It's certainly possible that we go unbeaten, but it's highly improbable. Magic 8 ball says "very doubtful"...

Not only would we have tp play lights out, we'd need some lady luck on our side as well.

ECU would need to go undefeated, beat opponents more convincingly then we did last year, and hope for a year like 2007 where most contenders had 2 losses. Sadly, I think we'll be in a Boise St situation where we have to go undefeated one year, return the main players, and go undefeated a second year. Boise was as high as #3 at one point with Kellen Moore before they lost @Nevada in this kind of situation. TCU was in a similar situation where they went 12-1 one year, then 12-0 the next year and went into their BCS game ranked #3.

This sounds right, but style point mays not matter if say SC & VT won their divisions in the SEC and ACC. Additionally, what if UCF and ECU were both undefeated going into the final game? Whoever won that game, would have a ton of credibility.

Step one is just over a week away. NCCU is first up. I'll tell you after that game if ECU has any shot at 12-0.

If it were last year's system, ECU wouldn't need to beat anyone "more convincingly." But with the CFP, you are absolutely right. Getting into the CFP will be much tougher than making a BCS bowl. ECU's chances (or anyone not in a P5 conference for that matter) is slim at best.

I'd be satisfied with 11-1 or maybe even 10-2 and a BCS or access bowl w a conference championship. Better shot at that.

I don't see us going 12-0. I'll take 8-4 and be very pleased....

With a few breaks we could go 10-2 at best and wind up in an Access Bowl.

Under normal circumstances (being that we're entering a new and more competitive conference), I'd say I'll take 7-5 with a win over Caro-whine-a and sleep just fine at night. But I'd really, really, hate to see Carden and Hardy go out with anything less than 9 wins. It would be such a missed opportunity.

ECU's goal is to win the American...not to be the fly in the ointment. You have to win the conference to be in the Access Bowl. The OOC schedule is only in play against the other G5 champs.
