it seems like Houston fans get a lot more annoying during football season... anyone else notice this?

They lose their QB but the guy who replaced him is a senior and they have seniors at all but 3 positions on both sides of the ball, the exceptions being Juniors. UTSA is fast, well coached, and hung around with us until the 3rd quarter last year. They are unafraid so hopefully we don't take them too lightly.

I've never heard of a team with 39 seniors.

You sound just like Josh Pastner ROFL

While I am sure Coker will put in some new wrinkles, I would be shocked if UH doesn't have a very accurate read on UTSA's strengths, weaknesses, schemes and tendencies.

Not to mention UTSA' old OC Travis Bush. UH has taken a bunch of our coaching talent.

Runners had a larger amount of closed practices this year. I suspect to go over new wrinkles. You can have the whole playbook, have insider knowledge but if you don't perform on the field what's the use.

Hm. I was in Knoxville, Tn during Faxgate when a former UT assistant coach Jack Sells faxed UT's playbook to his friend Ron Zook, then Florida's defensive coordinator.
Florida won handily.

There's this smug that these upper half G5 schools have. You think because your school sucked for 100 years our school has to do the same.

I came here to try and get some dialog going on the game but I'll let you guys get back to sucking your own cocks. I'll be there next Friday cheering on the Runners and taking a big **** in your stadiums new bathrooms. Birds up!

1. Our school didn't even exist 100 years ago.

2. We didn't start playing football until the 1940s

3. We accomplished more in 10 years than Texas-San Antonio will most likely accomplish in 100.

Because it was dead even for 3 quarters. UTSA was better than a good Tulane team last year and went 6-2 in CUSA. They won their last 5 games. They're good.

Too bad games don't end at 3 quarters, and to be picky when a team is leading by 3, it's not "dead even." And we extended the lead to ten 48 seconds into the 4th. I've never heard anyone complain about a 31 point win before. Hell USF didn't even score 31 points total in a game last year, much less win by 31.

And the record of their opponents' those last 5 games? 25-37. UNT was 9-4 so the other 4 were 16-33. Shouldn't you win at least 4 of those 5 if you're an above .500 team?

Oh I agree with you. Games don't end after 3. UH dominated the 4th. My only point is that it was virtually impossible to tell who was the better team thru 3 qtrs...not common for a large win. And the reason UH had that 3 pt lead after 3 was because they blocked a fg and returned it for a td otherwise UTSA would have been leading after 3. Listen, I think UH wins but UTSA will bring it. They're being downplayed a little too much. Theyre good and Coker will have them ready...guaranteed. I personally think UH wins by 1-2 tds in a competitive game.

If you think so highly of utsa, go join cusa, I'm sure they'll like to have USF join them again. 07-coffee3

You misinterprate me. I think Houston will win. I like Houston. I hope Houston challenges for access bowl. I really do. I just think, in my humble opinion, from watching several UTSA games, is that Houston will not roll over UTSA. They are very good. Nothing more, nothing less. Sorry for having an opinion.

Sure, they're gonna try and keep up with Houston as much as they can through out the game, but Houston got this, you'll see.

Go Coogs!!!
We respect the Coogs but this is far from our Super Bowl. We have Oklahoma St and Arizona on the schedule.

UTSA will bring it next Friday. If UH doesn't match intensity it could get ugly fast. 04-rock

I'll be there cheering my Runners on. I'm excited about christening the new stadium.

Hollar at me if you want to stop by our tailgate.

I went last year to our game at the AlamoDome and you guys DEFINITELY know how to tailgate. Epic time.

I think UTSA returns 10 starters offense and 10 on the defense. They have 39 seniors on the roster this year. They did lose a key offensive member in senior QB Eric Soza---who seemed to make clutch play after clutch play last year (at least during the first 3 quarters of play). Its hard to replace a senior QB. Houston returns a ton of starters as well--but gets the benefit of playing at home this go around.

This one is likely close early, but I think the improved play of a second year QB John O'Korn coupled with UTSA starting a first timer at QB will allow Houston to pull away for a solid win. I don't think this one will be close as long as the last game---but I don't think it will be as big a final margin either. Im guessing its a 14 to 17 point win for the Coogs.

I pretty much agree with you. It will be hard for UTSA to overcome the huge advantage of the home field for UH. I think UTSA has enough talent to keep things interesting. Senior laden teams tend to keep things intersting. Losing Soza was a big loss, but he is being replaced by another senior that got PT last year. Don't know how that will shake out. I see a 7-14 pt UH win, but 17 pts wouldn't surpise me either. I actually think UTSA has a better shot at defeating Arizona at home the following week, than UH on the road.

Nah, I just have family in Dallas, you all gave fair jabs. Grew up a State fan but have no real loyalty to them. I attend EMU football games (so yes I realize the poor attendance but at least I'm there to support) and plan to go there after Community College, so I guess you could say I'm a t-shirt Sparty fan.

RE: UTSA with 39 seniors
UTSA was a much more experienced team than UH was last year.

Starters for 2013 UH/UTSA game
UH
Fr 3
Soph 7
Jr 7
Sr 5

UTSA
Fr 0
Soph 3
Jr 15
Sr 4

So 19 of UTSA's starters last year were upper classmen (including a Sr QB) while only 12 of UH's were. UH started 3 freshmen (including the QB) while UTSA started 0.

That experience advantage didn't seem to help much last year. And I'm guessing a year of experience improves an underclassmen more than a junior going to a senior because going from no experience to some experience is a bigger jump than some experience to more experience.
