RE: Memphis 2014-15 basketball schedule
I'm not making a comment about the SOS of your OOC games, but how do the season ticketholders feel about only having Ok State visiting?

I'm not a season ticket holder, but on the Memphis board there are, and have been in the past, grumblings about the poor OOC home schedule.
Memphis attendance dropped last year, to some degree a result of an ice storm that floored attendance for one game. For the past two years, the Grizzlies have outdrawn the Tigers:
2014 - Grizz - 16,718, Tigers - 16,121
2013 - Grizz - 16,624, Tigers - 16,336
We actually drew better our last year in Cusa than in our first in the AAC.

No, looks like our biggest challenge will be SMU and UConn

To be fair -- the 2014 attendance figure includes a game against a D2 school played during an predicted ice storm.

Wichita State (likely top 10) at neutral site. Baylor neutral + maybe Illinois. Okie State at home. At Gonzaga. SFA will be good. That leaves maybe 7 cupcakes, which are about all you can get for buy games to meet the quota for home games at FedExForum.
Not sure how many other AAC OOC schedules are going to be much tougher.
Xavier, @NC State, @Nebraska, San Diego State, VCU, neutral vs. Ole Miss/Creighton and NC Central is a better OOC...
Nope. Check last year's RPI numbers. Wichita State is way better than anybody on your list, last year and this year. Gonzaga is likely better than anybody on your list. Baylor might be, as might Okie State. SFA is as good as most of them.
LOL what??? Wichita State finished #4 in the RPI...Creighton finished #10. Gonzaga finished #20 while VCU finished #13 and SDSU finished #15...
Typical delusional Memphis fan...
What RPI are you looking at? Here is Warren Nolan's for the end of the 2013-14 season:
http://warrennolan.com/basketball/2014/rpi
WSU 6, SDSU 13, Creighton 17, VCU 19, Gonzaga 21.
Not quite as good as you listed, but they can vary a bit.
And you are assuming Creighton #17, but it could be Ole Miss, #88, instead. It's either or. At that point, it's a wash, or worse, if you go on down the list.
But on our schedule, you also left out Baylor 28, SFA 47, and OSU 52. And if we beat beat Baylor, we will also likely play Illinois 73, which I didn't mention. If not, it'll be IN ST 73. Still better than Ole Miss.
Back to the original point. I said you're not going to find many OOU schedules that are THAT much tougher. Yours is NOT way better than ours, which was my point.

I compared the AAC numbers to the "autonomy 5." They average 8 fewer games against RPI 150+ teams than the AAC. In contrast, they average nearly 4 games more against RPI 1-50 teams; 2.5 more against RPI 51-100 teams and 2.5 more against RPI 101-150 teams.
The A-10 even does a better job of scheduling than us. For comparison purposes, the A-10 averages 3.5 fewer games against RPI 150+ teams than the AAC. They average 2 games more against RPI 1-50 teams; nearly 3 more against RPI 51-100 teams and 1.5 fewer against RPI 101-150 teams. Our stats look worse since they include ECU, Tulane and Tulsa (due to their membership in C-USA) in addition to the 10 members from last season.
We have to match their level of competition if we hope to join them. We have six teams within our conference that have an RPI in excess of 150 from last season. That allows for only two 150+ RPI teams on our respective OOC schedules if we intend to compete with the "autonomy 5." Josh Pastner scheduled seven such teams. For every "cupcake" over two scheduled by Pastner, one of our conference brethren must schedule one less to make up for it.

And we only have Texas visiting this year. It happens. Good thing we have good in-conference home games.

It's really not bad, Duke and Stanford or UNLV are at the Barclays Center which are definitely doable games for people in Philly and South Jersey and a home game for me, and while St Joes, Villanova and LaSalle are all technically away they are all games in Philly so in a sense they are home no matter what. That group and Kansas makes for a nice round of local games even though technically you can't call them all home games.

I've read rumblings about it. They would like to go back to the type of scheduling we had under Coach Chaney. Anyone, anywhere.
