Sad when a life ends so young and so suddenly.

Yeah, I noticed how you didn't say a word about Dipstick's nasty, relentless personal attacks on the 17 year-old kid from Mendon whose "crime" was choosing a school Dipstick hates. If you had spoken up then you'd have ground to say something now. You didn't, but now you're all high and mighty and judgmental because he's getting a taste of his own medicine. Hypocrite!!

We're talking about a 21-year old CFB player who DIED because of an apparent undiagnosed ailment, azzhole.

This is not the thread for this coax. Hope everything is well with you and your family.

Let's just move on and think about this young man's family.

...and now you prove yourself to be a CMU troll, as suspected.

Also a heartless, self-interested azzhole when it comes to the Kent State player who died.

You think WMU-CMU rivalry and message board posts are more important than that?

Again, you are a poor excuse for a human being.

"AMEN!"

d@mn you, Major. Beat me to it.

We'll keep the young man's family and friends in our thoughts, as well as his Kent State family. Tragic day and terribly sad.

coax, don't double-down on this. You're wrong, and you know it.

Wrong thread, and very poorly timed.

Man this is sad, he sounded like he was in a great place personally.

As for coax, you just proved Dip got in your head by trying to equate his antics to yours here. Bad form.

Come on coax. I don't have any beef with you and interestingly agree with some of what you say from time to time.

But this isn't the right thread for this. A KID sadly lost his life. And someone took the time to start a sincere thread to send condolences. Just not the right thread to incorporate a personal attack session and hijack the thread.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, teammates and the Kent St family.

Sad! Truly is as a fan of the MAC in general this is really sad to see. My heart and prayers go out to the Jason Bitsko family and his football family and friends. I hope that they find the cause so that Jason can be a story of saving the lives of many other athletes.

RE: Tradegy at Kent State
We rarely check fit young men for heart issues. Congenital cardio issues can effect you at any age. I've seen 3 generations of it in my family, and while I've told my kids they should get an EKG occasionally just to look for abnormalities, they don't do it. Like most guys under 40 they think they're invincible.

The star athlete at Fennville who collapsed and died comes to mind. I believe Rob Katrilla sp, former WMU center died in his early 20s from heart failure. Many of us witnessed Charlie Coles heart stop beating, and he was by no means out of shape.

If you've never had an EKG done it's easy. They stick a few censors on you and it takes a read of your heart rate, rhythms, etc. If there are abnormalities then they may request a stress test or possibly a scan. Anyhow, it's easy, painless, and could save your life. If you're over 40 or have a history of cardio issues in your family you need to get your ticker checked.

This is absolutely correct, there are many issues that can become life-threatening in the right conditions (high-intensity sports such as football). Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, aberrant coronary arteries, Athletic Heart Syndrome, Arrhythmic Right Ventricular Dysplasia, Myocarditis, Marfan's Syndrome, etc etc...all diseases of the heart that can cause problems in otherwise healthy young athletes.

All of these can usually be caught with a full medical screening. Many athletic trainers are pushing for full screenings for high-intensity athletes even at the high school level, because of tragedies like this story. A lot of it lies on the school to cough up the dough to get it done though. It then gets murky and devolves into politics.

Ah well...my thoughts are with the Golden Flash community and the family of this young man. Very sad...
