No need to pile on the kid. The "Twitter Bashers" have been on him enough.

"Grant Milner

Nick King has been the anchor this week for Memphis offensively, but haven't been impressed by his perimeter defense. #truth"

"L. Jason Smith
‏@TheCAJasonSmith
Nick King scores, then gets scored on (a 3-ptr), and Tigers' assistant Aki Collins covers his face with his hands. 79-62, Tigers."

First of All, I do realize this is August, it was Canada, blah, blah, blah.

But i still get reflux every time I think of that day back in March that UConn ROLLED US in the AAC tourny.

This script is eerily familiar.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!! At least someone sees where I am coming from. I am NOT a Josh basher, however you do have achknowledge that SOMETHING is not right. Defensive system has a lot to do with how the coaches teach position and rotation, etc. I am sure that the players wanted to win and I would bet that they PLAYED HARD. Again, this is a preseason game after all. However, you can not discount Shabazz Napier's comments when asked: Why do you feel comfortable when you play Memphis' defense? Shabazz responded with "I think it's just the way Memphis plays defense". Somethings wrong and it's not just the players not playing hard!

Of course. We all do. Blowout losses have been all too familiar and are never fun. The trick is in the analysis, and conditions this year are quite different from last, and I put very little stock in the 4th game in 4 nights on the road in a foreign land being indicative of anything except fatigue.

However, if you hate Pastner than nothing else matters.

Defense is the first thing you teach. There is never any reason a D1, top 50 NCAA team should lose by 30 points to a team like the one that put us on the stretcher last night. Losses like that, even during the preseason-preseason CAN definitely do a lot of damage to a team's psyche.

RE: DEFENSIVE SYSTEM!!!
Effort, rotational and the individual ability of personnel all play a part. Ability is more important than anything else. One has to consider the possibility that certain teams just can't be excellent defensive teams full stop. Nothing's perfect. As for Napier, he's a very nimble point guard. He'd be a handful for any team/level of competition. Part of defense is also attitude, some dudes just don't have it. That's not coaching, it's just not in them. If you go out expecting championships every season, prepare to be sorely disappointed.

I doubt that team that we sent up to Canada is a top 100 team, let alone a top 50 team.

Bill83 is correct. That was one of the worst loses at home I’ve ever witnessed.

And how do you and other Tiger fans get off thinking people HATE Josh because they disagree with some aspects of his coaching? Don’t you realize there is no coach in the world that totally agrees with another’s management/style/system?

I don’t know what’s worse…accusing someone of hating another or accusing someone of loving another. This is sports and not a love/hate – live/die situation.

smdh.

Totally agree!! People on here have accused me of hating Josh which is far from the truth!! I happen to like and respect him but I don't think he is a good Coach at all!! I honestly hope and have hoped he would make me feel differently but up to this point he hasn't.. If people happen to believe that I hate him because I don't feel he's a good Coach, then so be it!!
