Before that brutal OHSAA ruling, he was ranked #91 OVERALL in the 2015 ESPN 300. His recruitment really died down once schools found out about the ruling, but I'm almost positive his offer list would have grown tremendously had he been able to play his senior season. Think about it, we essentially stole a recruit from Penn State. He was destined for 'Linebacker U' as nearly every recruiting analyst predicted him to end up there. But of course, with a new HC at Penn St. and the ruling, they did not keep in contact with Chris.

He was so much fun to watch at Central Catholic, you guys are going to love this kid. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes in and contributes right away as a true frosh. His initial plans are to graduate from CCHS early in December and then early-enroll to wherever he ended up (Toledo). So lets get this kid committed on paper.

We can't get anything on paper if he comes to UT mid-year. But as soon as he enrolls, he's ours.

How did I know you were going to say something like that. Geeze. Keep it in your pants.

Really? You're going to let your Johnnie side get in the way of celebrating a huge get for Toledo??? Typical....

No. It's a great get and I hope he turns out to be one of the biggest recruits UT ever gets. But you're just over the top about him. Looking on Rivals, UT has had numerous recruits over the past few years with the same rating (5.7).

RE: UT linebacker targeted recruit Chris Green Toledo CC....
UT can sign him to a Mid-Year financial agreement new to NCAA last year. It's not binding, but allows unlimited contact and allows coaches to mention him in media before national letter signed. most players don't do this, but is something that may benefit UT with the unlimited contact to keep the wolves off him in December and January and keep UT front in his mind. As far as ratings go, Chris would be alot higher rated if he was able to play this year. I don't care what people say, as we've seen in the past a two star turns into a four star as soon as they get the attention from commiting to a Michigan or Ohio State. where as out of site out of mind, AJ hawk was hurt his senior year and was a 3-star. Many others too numerous to mention. Don't be fool this kid is impact quality. He will push any one next year at MLB, and may start...he's going to have a huge chip on his shoulder.

That is great news - assuming it holds up. Need to get players on this years team going to some of his games. Bring him in as a teammate before he arrives and he would have a tough time changing that commitment to another big time program. I don't believe that is against NCAA rules.

Keeping local talent like Green in the fold, has been, and always should be, a priority for the UT staff.

It seems like it has been more of a priority since Beckman took over. This recruiting class now has 4 Toledo area commits.

Maybe more importantly, I did not see any Toledo players on the OSU roster. Went through it quickly, but did not see any from the NW area on the roster. Hayes was - then was going to play at Toledo - and last I heard is that he was grazing at too many buffets

Because I've seen this kid play multiple times. I've seen him break through the entire Trotwood Madison offensive line and sack their QB in the end zone for a safety in the 2012 state championship game. He's big time talent and he's staying home to become a Toledo Rocket.

He wants to put Toledo on the map, how can you not like him?

RE: UT linebacker targeted recruit Chris Green Toledo CC....
As I stated earlier signing a mid year financial agreement is in UT interest based on this:

What it does: The interpretation allows high school midyear-graduating seniors to sign scholarship papers six months before the letter-of-intent signing period opens in February.

Traditionally, midyear enrollees have signed, after beginning college coursework, with the remainder of their recruiting classes in February. This ruling gives those players an opportunity to secure their scholarships before the start of their senior years. It aloso provides unlimited contact between recruit and team and allows them to mention the player in discussions on recruiting.

Universities must verify that the prospect is on track to graduate at midyear before providing the agreement . Once signed, the agreement obligates the university to honor the scholarship.

What it doesn't do: It doesn't create an early signing period. It doesn't establish a new rule -- this is simply an interpretation of pre-existing legislation.

It doesn't obligate the prospect to attend the school with which he signs the financial-aid agreement. It doesn't create a recruiting ban on other programs from pursuing the prospect after he signs the agreement.

And it doesn't replace the letter of intent, which remains the standard document by which universities are bound to prospects, notably for the majority of prospects who graduate at the end of an academic year.

Green might be UT's highest ranked local recruit?

I'm not sure who else is on the table locally? Banks?

PS: The one that got away: Nick got the press at QB but Nate Holley just named MAC D player of the week.

Huge game for Holley. Had 18 tackles with two forced fumbles and a recovery, I believe. That's an amazing performance.

You are correct. The SS also played WR on offense if I my memory hasn't failed me today.

Watching the Kent-OU game. Kent's punter launched one from the 5 to the opposite 12 on the fly. Ouch.

Had to be windy with the wind at his back. Have never seen an 83 yarder in the air - even by Roby or Ray Guy. Need to see the science of sport on that one to see how fast his foot would have to be traveling in order to generate that kind of distance. I thought it was impressive when Detmer hit a kickoff from the 35 and it landed 1 yard beyond the end zone - for 76 yards. Of course, he had a nice breeze behind him.

Hey Johnnie boy, I'm not the only one who is declaring Chris Green one of the biggest commits Toledo has ever had. Read this article where the author, Brian Nowicki, states "Green is quite possibly the highest regarded player to ever commit to Toledo." I really don't see what the problem is with me hyping up a guy who has committed to Toledo, OUR team. You're just hating because he goes to Central Catholic.

Chris Green commits to Toledo

He's got nothing on Brandon Hannum and his punt from Toledo to the 1 yard line of Doyt Perry in 2001 (officially 92 yards).
