Marketing Outreach Fail
Recently got the Great Deals Magazine in the mail. Lo and Behold the athletic dept bought the front page of it to advertise this year's football schedule. The brown and gold cover was pretty dark looking but it had the schedule on it and a slogan "GET TO THE GAME!" on it in big letters under the Bronco logo. Then under that... "See Inside For Special Event and Ticket Ordering Information!"

Okay, so this Great Deals thing is a COUPON magazine. This issue has about 60 pages and it's chock full of businesses offering special deals and coupons for their products and/or services.

Leaf through it far enough (about 2/3rds of the way thru) and sure enough there's the Bronco page. Full page. Same dark color scheme as on the cover. Same schedule info repeated from the cover. Same info at the bottom for broncos.com and the ticket office #.

So what's missing? A COUPON!! People open up these magazines for one and one reason only: To clip a few coupons and get a good deal or two on something. 99% of the advertisements in Great Deals have coupons! ...except the Bronco one. Fail.

The only thing different inside is some offer to attend a variety of WMU athletic events where you buy vouchers and get a discount in doing so. Call xxx-xxxx for more details. Are you kidding?!

It's a COUPON MAGAZINE! Throw some decent deals on there and give the casual community a reason to give it a try. That's who the target audience is. Very, very few people opening that magazine are going to be interested in season tickets or some involved voucher scheme.

Marketing Outreach Fail.

Just realized that when I typed out Broncos.com real fast (instead of wmubroncos.com), it links to a Denver Broncos web page. 03-wink

Seriously, I think if we're 1-3 by the time Toledo comes to town in October then attendance this year could take a serious turn for the worse. Even 2-2 might not be enough to stem a downward slide unless one of the wins is at Purdue which could raise some eyebrows and spirits around town.

Interesting that you mention this. I actually got my Great Deals book last week as well. Saw the WMU thing on the front. My wife and I cut out several coupons that we might use at some point. Never even realized that there might have been anything (which apparently there wasn't) for WMU. Just saw the schedule on the front and moved on. My guess is, that's what most people do.

Don't bother responding to Coax, he's a Chimp Sockpuppet. Pretty sure he's the same guy who used to post here as KazooChip. Same M.O., same cloaked "I'm a Bronco fan, but everything WMU sucks."

He has posted numerous comments here that read verbatim to comments I've read on Chimp illy. If you click on his name and past posts you will find only posts critical of Fleck or WMU. Also gets a bit defensive about anything critical of the Chimps.

Chimp Sockpuppet alert!

WMU MAC CHAMPS 2014

^ Psychologically Disturbed CMU Obsession Alert ^

Nice try at trying to conflate my criticisms of P.J. into saying that everything WMU sucks. It's a well-known fact that WMU athletic marketing efforts have been less than fruitful over the years. You'd like to protect and innoculate that poor track record and everything P.J. against criticism, even well-justified criticism, by trying to discredit me as a "chimp."

It speaks to your conspiritorial and disturbed CMU Obsession. The fact is that I've been to the CMU forum ONCE, after you linked to it repeatedly with your nasty personal smear campaign against a 17 year-old kid from Mendon who committed the heinous crime of accepting an offer to play there. I'd never been there before and I've never been there since, unlike you, but that episode was more than enough to tell me volumes about who YOU are and your psychologically disturbed obsession with them, to the point where you are dragging a kid through the mud for accepting (if you are to be believed) his only offer for athletic scholarship to college.

So carry on with your bizarre "He's a chimp sock puppet!" silliness. Most people here are smart enough to see it for what it is; Cancerous CMU Obsession mixed with an effort to shield P.J. from criticism.

The funniest thing in your little head is this accusation that I'm 'illy" from another forum. That seemed to come right after I first referred to you as "Dipstick" the other day. As if I'm the first and only one to think it's a deserving nickname for you with your childish, petty, and paranoid postings. 01-wingedeagle

The difference this year is that it's following on the heels of 1-11, so the margin of error for optimism after a 1-3 start will be razor thin (assuming Murray State is the lone win).

Awwww, the Chimp Sockpuppet is worried about our attendance.

Outside of Chattanooga, I don't see a Chimp win until you get into the soft portion of your home schedule.

Even some of your fellow Slappies see a 1-7 start. By that time there'll be 2 feet of snow and below zero temps at Tumbeweed Tech. Chip fans will be catching their dinner in the ice shanties, not shivering in Smelly.

WMU MAC CHAMPS 2014

I'll set your mind at ease Dip.

A: I'm not coax
B: I've never claimed to be a Bronco fan
C: Are you saying that I have posted numerous comments in the CMU page? If so, you would be incorrect. This is my first post on either in probably 2 years. Maybe longer. I got tired of trying to discuss things and being discredited simply because I wasn't a WMU fan.

Interestingly. I don't have to say much. From what I read when I log in to check this boards idiocy, many of you guys would agree with what Id have to say anyways.

D: Good to see I made an impression on you. Is this where your apparent unhealthy obsession with all things CMU comes from?

Finally, good luck with the coming season. I'll once again step back and enjoy watching you all bicker like little girls.

According to KazooChips history he hasn't posted here in 2 years. But he's been lurking.....watching......waiting on the sidelines.........And finally he just could wait no longer and had to come out of the shadows to exonerate Coax 03-melodramatic

No, it couldn't be that our resident Chimp Sockpuppet got outted, and then being a dopey Northern Lower, brought out his alter ego to help perpetuate his badly done hoax........... Oh wait.......Coax----hoax 03-idea

I've spent the last 20 years dealing with 10 year olds who were trying to pull the wool over on you. Not much different than the average "northern lower type" as you like to call them.

The real tip off was when he mocked me for having the scUM logo as my avatar. Only a NL Slappy would read my location and miss the joke.

I think most 10 year-olds could outsmart you pretty easily even though it's the age group where you'd fit in best.

Another Eureka Moment, huh? I got news for you; I never mocked you for having a Mich logo as avatar. You're confused. Granted, I did mock you for a lot of other stuff, all richly deserved.

Your trying too hard Slappy.

You've got to be less desperate. Next time you're outted as a Sockpuppet you need to wait a long time before you return, hope they've forgotten about it, and act like it never happened.

You're like a shoplifter who gets busted, and then returns to the store the next day expecting to be treated as a valued customer. 05-nono
