So you lose your coach............
...........for whatever reason......hired, fired....has a mid-life crisis and runs off to Costa Rica with a new girlfriend....whatever.

Who would you like to see replace him and why? And let's be reasonable here, the superstars are probably happy where they are.

Can AState fans be exempt from answering this question? We answer it every year anyway...

RE: So you lose your coach............
In a perfect world, I'd like to get a solid P5 assistant. Someone young, looking to earn his stripes and move up in the coaching world.

stAte has a good deal going, though I bet they wish the coaches would stay for like 2-3 years instead of one and dones. But really, they've been doing pretty dang good so far with the one year deals, so I can't hate.

So...how many of our former coaches do you want on staff?

I was actually thinking that as I typed it. I just really love that offense.

We think Anderson's the one. Extremely high buyout means only a P5 could hire him in his first two years. He's talked openly about wanting to stay long enough for his daughter (Sophomore this year) to graduate High School. Also had several people who know him insist that they fully believe he is committed.

Now, if you want to know the popular answer. Most AState fans will tell you that we want Ryan Aplin back on staff soon. Aplin's at Auburn working as a GA, and is still heavily involved in working to improve donations. We'd love to be able to bring him in as QB coach whenever someone poaches our OC Walt Bell...which I think is just a matter of time. (Though the 250K Salary will keep many teams away)

If Malzahn had stayed at AState one more year. Lashlee would probably be the Head Coach here now. Many who knew Gus said that was his plan to begin with. Work 2-3 years here and leave and let Lashlee take over. Auburn came open much faster than he expected it would.

Though many of our fans will fight to tell you that Lashlee struggled with playcalling here in his year. Malzahn called the last half of the season.

CF is benevolent. Pass granted.

I would take Travis Bush back in a heartbeat.

The other Cajuns fans might string me up for it but Lane Kiffin.

I think he would be phenomenal at this level. He's also dynamic which is something UL could use.

Yep. Travis Bush would be my number one choice as well. Not a P5 assistant, but has proven himself well at TxST, UTSA and Houston.

No

He may not be able to hack it in the big leagues but he is a touch gimmicky which works in the SBC.

I think he's a good coordinator and that's all. Some guys are not meant to be coaches.
