The trip from Charleston (CHS) is about 2.5hrs to Statesboro. It's a lot better now that 17 is 4 lanes. The worst part of the trip is I-95, the stretch between US17 and the Georgia border. That road is a complete cluster half the time. If people would just go there wouldn't be traffic 03-banghead 01-lauramac2

JAX is about the same. I don't know what side the airport is so I don't know how much time to add to get to I-95. But that's probably 2.5 hrs too.

for UTA, fly into DFW..only a few miles from campus..you can do Love fld. if you prefer SW airlines but not very easy to and from Arlington.if you are flying charter or private plane Arlington has pretty good ILS airport

San Marcos' airport has no commercial air service. Austin is the closest airport but San Antonio also works.

The main trafficker in and out of that airport is... pharmaceuticals.

I made note of that in the Airports sheet.

I am including Train, Airport, Intercity Bus, City Transit, Taxi, Car Rentals, and other (Cruise ships for Mobile, AL 02-13-banana?_. For Boone, I filled in most of each field with some information. As much as I love Amtrak I did "Trains" for all the SB locations, as that was my original interest. I finished off Boone, well, its Boone and I know the area a bit.

The link below lets anyone edit. Feel free to fill-in any information you know about the other cities. I am not yet a member of other SB school message boards so if you know of someone that might enjoy helping with their own school then pass along this link.

Gulfport-Biloxi (GPT) is actually the closest secondary commercial airport to South Alabama.

Very true about driving (or not going at all), but for a small bit of work we can all learn a bit more about each area. Between full members and associate members there are what, 7 schools new or returning after a good many years away from the SB.

I would be surprised if anyone on this board or anyone that reads the database using any mode of conveyance except their legs to walk across campus to watch a soccer game at Hartwck, but some info is there for those interested.

Closest to the primary airport out in west Mobile. But, P'cola is closer to the Eastern Shore and I'd venture that they get way more passengers from the metro area. More flights too.

RE: Transportation to SB Cities
Troy, Ala. is within a relatively easy drive of five airports:

Montgomery: 45 minutes (50 miles) northwest of Troy
Dothan: 45 minutes (50 miles) south of Troy
Northwest Florida Regional Airport near Fort Walton Beach: 2 hours (113 miles) south of Troy
Birmingham: 2 to 2 1/2 hours (146 miles) northwest of Troy
Atlanta: 3 hours or less (173 miles) northeast of Troy

Dothan and Montgomery are very convenient and easy to get in and out of, but their flights are somewhat limited and expensive compared to the offerings at BHM (such as Southwest Airlines) and ATL (every airline).

Troy is a straight shot (90 miles) north of I-10 in the Florida Panhandle and south Alabama; just east of I-65 (to Montgomery and Mobile) and just south of I-85 (to Atlanta and Birmingham). Troy is on U.S. 231, which is a major north-south road to Florida.
