Cant get here soon enough. Hopefully this board doesn't completely melt down into raw 1's and 0's by then.

From now until February we have football every weekend the rest of the way. Hall of Fame game is Sunday night. While the preseason can get pretty stale at times when the 5th stringers are fighting for spots, at least there is football on TV again. Thank God!!!!

I feel like the offseason gets longer every year.

Anyone else wish that some no name bowl game that includes a couple mediocre squads was on ESPN tonight?
Remember that when we start complaining about how college football has too many bowl games. Cherish them in December and early January because July sucks balls.

Oh yeah, good point. But, to really analyze those examples, you would find that there is a story behind each one of them as to why they became a tradition, usually a significant event ("War Eagle") that caused the community to be attached to the symbol and adopt is as part of their tradition.
I'm still trying to determine what our significant event that caused our community to become so attached to our new "symbol" albeit a saying in this case, well a nursery rhyme type saying nonetheless.

Our coach used it to keep going in life after the death of his infant child and tried to instill that type of no quit mentality into the program.

That still doesn't really answer the question, and not quite what I heard as to why it's became part of WMU's tradition.

I'm very busy these days. Perhaps you could do the research for us and tell how those unrelated mascots and traditions came about.
Add this one. Miami Hurricanes mascot is an Ibis. What's that have to do with a massive weather event?

That's a good idea, I will do that and post those traditions in a new thread, asking you guys to rank each one of them and include "RTB" in that list. In fact, I'm sure there is a compiled list of traditions like that out there, I'll do a little research and post that if I get lucky.
Be interesting to where it shakes out because I just don't see the RTB sticking with us as a tradtion unless WMU wins a championship with it, but even then I could see us looking back on those "RTB years" and be done with it too.

Well you didn't ask a question or share what you heard. I guess you don't like it. To each their own.

CMU had the Hold the Rope mantra. Indiana has a new tradition of rubbing a rock. We got The new Factory tradition at EMU, and that goofy tree that the students at Stanford came up with. Seems as though coaches have been doing these motivational things for ages. Some stuck, some didn't. But it's hardly earth shattering.
