RE: Basketball Commit
According to my calculation, these 4 guys use up all the available scholarships. Unless someone leaves the program, the new class in now full.

RE: Basketball Commit
ANother nice addition, balanced class. No true point guard. Sure is nice to get two Higher mid major recruits out of Indiana. The last two years have relly elevated UT's program. Another good year with a MAC tournament championship and NCAA appearance and watch out this rocket ship could really take off.

If true this is excellant as Coach K can now dedicate more time to evaluate and recruit 2016 and 2017 classes. Of course all the while recruiting a few top 2015's in case of a transfer or injury.`

RE: Basketball Commit
The class is technically full at 4 given Stokes departure but I believe UT will sign Kessinger if he wants to come. Who would get "squeezed" is anyones guess but there are a couple likely candidates.

UT is still recruiting Kessinger

RE: Basketball Commit
Maybe I'm mistaken, but it seems like they still have one scholarship available. With the graduations of Juice, Drummond, and Weatherspoon plus the scholarship vacated by Stokes, that leaves four scholarships. Adway, Knapke, and White take three of them, leaving one.

RE: Basketball Commit
It is strange that neither of the guards are true points, because we need one so badly. To take commits so early, Coach K must really like these guys. Jaelen Sanford's final two schools were UT and Ohio. I've seen him described as a catch and shoot two guard.

I think it's safe to say that UT is still recruiting for 2015, period - not just Kessinger. With the prevalence of transfers, I don't think teams quit recruiting just because there's not a spot available. In addition to the possibility of a transfer, there is also a chance that one ore more of the four verbals will not end up attending UT.

RE: Basketball Commit
I will not speculate with names but in recent years the guys who do not get playing time at UT transfer out. As the season progresses, we will know who these guys are.

RE: Basketball Commit
3 classes in a row without 1 point guard in the bunch would be just a little troubling, no? No PG in last years frosh class--Stokes de-commits from this year's class, and for the moment a full class without a PG for the next class. Hope something or somebody shakes free.

RE: Basketball Commit
Jaelan Sanford is listed as a PG on virtually all recruiting sites including verbal commits

I have to believe that Coach K knows what he is doing. Each of the recruits has different skills. He is building a program, not just grabbing bodies.

RE: Basketball Commit
Well said Rocket75.

I agree. TK is looking for compatible players that have athleticsm, work ethic, talent, upside, and, perhaps most importantly, can fill needed roles. This is what good/great coaches do!

Nice recruiting class. do not be surprised if we add a 5th player in this class even though the supposed limit is 4 based on apparent slots.

Go Rockets!!!

RE: Basketball Commit
It seems like Jalen Sanford could be a David Brown type player, combining point guard and shooting guard abilities. Having a combo guard like that sure helped out WMU this past season.

RE: Basketball Commit
So far for the 2015 class, we have two true bigs at 6'9" and another at 6'10". Hope they both add some bulk to their frame before arriving to UT, but I'm liking their size so far.

RE: Basketball Commit
another possibility is the staff likes how stuckey mostly or jonjon williams are developing as ball handlers. both of these guys were recruited as combo guards who can score and handle. jonjon was more of a 2 last yr, but might be improving his lead guard skills. mosely is a good ball handler who might be more of a pg than sg.

gotta like the size in this class. some thin kids with good frames, but a lot of height and all with good hands and ball skills

RE: Basketball Commit
Jon Jon dribbles with his head down especially when moving toward the hoop. He does not survey the court like a true PG. He has a lot of work to do to be PG capable.

RE: Basketball Commit
watched some video of sanford. he's a pg with a nice jump shot and 2 guard size. really smooth with his handles. not a jitterbug fast pg, but good hard low dribble and plays with control and confidence.

white - i'm not fully convinced on yet. in the video i've seen of him (which was a yr old when he was a 16 yr old soon to be jr) he looked more like 6-1 than 6-4. pretty good shooter with a solid build and some balance in his game, but didn't show the potential of some of the other recruits, imo. however, i can't say how his game and body have developed in the last yr. from what i saw looked ready to contribute early but w a lower ceiling. knapke looks like the best potential but will need time. adway is similar. gotta see more on sanford but 6.3 can handle and shoot is a good start for a pg.
