I greatly wish this would die as an issue. JM seems to be getting his footing as a solid media contributor. MR has done a wonderful job for years. I see little to dislike about either except for people trying to manufacture some level of animus.

I'm glad both (and many others) contribute to our fan base and simply fail to understand why this is still an issue. Aren't we all glad we have myriad options for coverage of our team?

As usual, this is just my opinion, but I follow the Tigers and more coverage by more outlets equals more info for me. I fail to see the negative.

Last August, Martin stated on a radio show the he would " have to answer with the intellect of memphistigers.org posters'."

He holds contempt for you, me, his disciples, and everyone else at MT.org.

Nevertheless, my regard for his professional work is commensurate with his production quality level. I am not his acolyte ready to unquestionably heap praise upon him like some folks.

I seriously doubt his comment was a personal attack on you, or any of us who actually understand and can spell the word 'acolyte.'

That is kind of my take as well. This board can be a bit of a zoo sometimes, such is the life of a message board. I certainly don't take it seriously/personally.

I understand your point of view. People who enjoy those type of statements will be happy because my guess is he will continue with the practice in the future.

Dude his comments have been as personal an attack as anyone can make in a sports situation on a group of people.
If you don't understand that he's also disparaging you as an individual-that's on you. AND would be a prime example in his defense.

Wolken had a thing for disparaging the fan base from time to time, but absence seems to have made hearts grow fonder.

Growth depends a lot on the replacement for the one who leaves.

Lighten up Francis. If you take yourself too seriously to see that this place is beyond absurd, then you have way bigger problems than little Johnny Martin grinding your gears.

today.....Barton sticks with Blazers

There was a report that Will Barton's $915,243 salary for the upcoming season had been guaranteed since he was not waived by the July 25 deadline and he spoke about how thankful he was that he made it past that point. Well, on Thursday The Oregonian reported Barton's guarantee date was yesterday. It should be noted that some reports have his salary for 2014-15 guaranteed if he's not waived by today, Aug. 1. Either way, Barton now has financial security for the upcoming season.

"Will has improved as much as anyone on our roster as a player and a professional," general manager Neil Olshey said. "Having the third year of his contract guaranteed is a validation of his efforts and his value to our organization."

Look, I'll grind gears whenever I think I need to. If a few of you don't like it, so be it. If from time to time I'm off base, so be it.

It is what it is; I am what I am; and Martin is what he is- another nasal in training.

I know. The uncertainty was kind of worrisome.

But they (the fans) absolutely love him in Portland. He is the main reason the Trail Blazers won one game against the Spurs in the playoff. Plus, Will is a steal of a deal at that price. It's to his credit that he wanted to stay with that organization. Portland is a good town for Will and vice versa.

He has under armour money too, as I understand it.
