ESPN's American Blog beginning to post American news!
And this is occurring even before Media Day coverage. Hopefully, a sign of things to come.

Nice. Now everyone should go over there and give those articles clicks and comments. Show big daddy ESPN we deserve their love.

Only because the news is related to Big 12 and Big 10 teams. I see no news about AAC media days, media predictions for the league, etc.

Going to that blog is pretty much a waste of time.

Actually - going to espn.com is pretty much a waste of time.

You may be right about the entries being related to P5 conferences, but at least they are also relevant to the AAC. Rome was not built in a day.

Why does ESPN continue to post Louisville and Rutgers news on the AAC blog? That makes no sense to me, and I don't have a dog in the fight! (though Michael Vick might? I kid!!!)

They probably haven't changed some metadata somewhere and so everything they tag with those two schools still shows up on the blog.

We should go over there if they provide actual real coverage. Unless they dedicate a writer to cover the AAC beat, I can't see how their coverage won't be more than an after thought. Moreover, we shouldn't reward them for a crappy product. It seems trivial but I would think that the AAC blog would be part of the media deal we signed with ESPN, since it's really all about exposure and coverage since it's obviously not about the money.

My $0.02

It doesnt even need to have a beat writer to be a better blog than it currently is. You would think Aresco would be able to at least ask that they post stories that were already being written about our conference or teams be posted there. Maybe have a writer who also covers aother P5 blog to post a story a week on AAC topics. It wouldn't cost a dime and would make the blog at least a nice place to catch up on news. My guess is they could pay a few dollars and pick up extra stories from Rivals writers in the conference.

Like Aresco said yesterday, some see opportunity at every obstacle while others see obstacles at every opportunity. I plan to click on the blog everyday and give it a chance.

RE: ESPN's American Blog beginning to post American news!
I was really hoping that some coverage from the AAC media day would appear because of the last 3 entries being at least somewhat AAC related. CBS & SI had coverage on their main CFB pages but ESPN never even acknowledged us (on the main page nor the blog). It blows my mind because we are supposedly business partners and they're giving us less coverage than non-interested parties.

RE: ESPN's American Blog beginning to post American news!
2 new posts added recently. Both are American related. I guess you have to crawl before you walk but there is no question that this is a step in the right direction. The last 5 entries are all American related which is basically unprecedented (all within a 2 week time period no less). Meanwhile, the MWC gets virtually no exposure on ESPN.

There have been 10 articles posted since July 9th and all of them reference an AAC program or athlete. They clearly don't have an AAC writer yet but at least they're adding articles that are relevant to AAC fans now.

Yes, it has improved since you no longer have to weed through all the Big 10 and ACC articles. It is solely things related to the American. Now if they would add some original articles that would be nice. I mean Fortuna did do an article about Spring Football so maybe he will do something to kick off the season. Would be nice to at least have a weekly mailbag. I mean how hard is that really??

People posting comments on these articles are generally tools . That UC / Indiana game story is especially brutal .

Michael Smith · Top Commenter · William Jewell College Alumni
Who cares? Even if this was basketball, most of the country wouldn't care. Is this a play-in game for the Little Caesars Bowl news?

I would respond with "what the hell is a William Jewell College?"

Their coverage has been crap and everything posted to date has been tangential at best.

If they would assign one of their current beat writers with even partial coverage it would make a big difference...and get that beat writer's name\work exposed to a lot more people. I understand Aresco has bigger fish to fry....but he should push for more AAC football coverage with a designated blogger. Heck...I'm sure it's something an intern could handle.
