put stAte at Rivals Team Rank #42, trailing only Cincinnati at #34 of G5 schools.

stAte obviously won't end up in top 50, but I'm loving this coaching staff's ability to sell this program to kids. Hope they can hold on to 'em.

I would not sell this staff short when it comes to recruiting, because there is probably not a better recruiting staff in G5.

They held on to most of their commits last year when the big-dogs came after them, and they will come again this year.

Another good thing, and why so many are committing so early, is the ASU coaches are not bluffing when they tell a kid if they do not want the scholarship someone else just as good does.

I'm sure you are fully aware of stAte's "impact" players. I'm sure you can easily list them for me real quick. Please do.

Not a single one of your players in the NFL is an impact player.

Would you like to compare Troy's impact players in the NFL to yours?

I never said anything about Troy, but at this point, Mo Wilkerson and Terrance Knighton compare well to Umenyiora and Ware.

Please compare the stats of the four players in question and then get back to me.

Then if the school yanks their offer if they visit another school after their verbal can see them hanging onto them.

That's this staff's policy. If you commit, we'll never pull your scholarship, but if you visit another school, we reserve the right to give your scholarship to someone else.

Our coaches call it an Engagement period.

Based on what Anderson has said the coaches had no idea that so many would commit so early, and of course there or others out there with offers for the few spots still open. More players than spots, and very good players to boot, so a player is really taking a chance shopping elsewhere after committing to these guys.

Think one player has already tested the waters, and was shocked at how quickly they moved on.

Its to the point that kids are committing because they are worried if they don't, their spot dries up. Avery Johnson has been angling for a Razorback Offer for weeks, and would never commit because he want Arkansas to have every opportunity to come in, but once our class started filling up he decided he better commit now, or risk having to go out of state to school, which he doesn't want to do.

Impossible, last year an Ark. St. fan argued with me that they don't lose any recruits to G5 members. Can't believe you pulled that off (App did it twice last year)!

That guy will claim he had the offer pulled (in July)...
04-cheers

I much preferred our battle for the traitor Matthew Eaton who led us both on for weeks and then went to flipping Temple of all places. Its part of the reason that I think we'll end up having a decent little rivalry given time.

WRs in the NFL:

Temple: 2
stAte: 1

We're also a finalist for Eaton's former HS teammate and fellow WR Jaylen Smith.

App has 4 currently, what's your point?

RE: Arkansas State recruiting is on fire!
Yeah last year we got to 24 commits the last visit weekend. Player was waffling between Navy and AState. Coaches told him he could have the 25th spot if he committed before he left. Well he left without committing they picked up the phone and called a kid who had been wanting to commit for weeks and told him the spot was his and he accepted. Hour later the first kid calls and says he made his mind up and wanted to come to AState and they told him there were no spots left. He threw a snit fit on twitter for a couple hours about coaches keeping their word, but he apparently kept tuning out the part about make a decision now or there is no guarantee.

Recruiting sucks and the worst part of it is so many of these kids don't have anyone giving them advice that know anything about what is going on. Last few years we've snagged a few kids well after signing day who believed they were destined for bigger and better and ended up getting offers pulled by bigger name G5's and low tier P5's who got sick of waiting on them. Then the music stopped with the chairs all filled.

Is this normal for Ark. St. to have pretty much twice the commitments of other SB teams by early August?

Nope. stAte hasn't seen this level before, not even with the Great Malzahn.

TXST has a lot of offers out but only 8 commits so far. TX kids will wait on bigger offers before they come to their senses and join Bobcat Nation. Some of them then wait too long then get nowhere.

We had a kid last year in a similar situation as the above mentioned stAte scenario except he committed then backed out a few weeks later. Coaching staff said adios. They won't hold onto a kid that pulls their commit in any way, shape or form.

This is just uncharted waters for all but the very top schools , and you HC said the coaches never expected such a response.

Maybe it's the Trooper Taylor effect.

One thing is for sure, some outstanding players don't want to take a chance and not have a spot in this class.
