Jesus Christ, this is what, the second time we've been predicted to go to a bowl game in six years? Let us have our parade.

But since you asked, Middle, Marshall, and Rice were all lucky to get their W's from us last year, and every single one of their fans will back that up. We made silly mistakes that young teams make. With another year of experience under the belt, and the strengths of the team (QB, RB, WR, DBs and LBs) still improving, why not just predict FAU to go to a bowl game? It's not like people are predicting us to go to the CUSA championship. In fact, most previews have us finishing third or fourth in the division.

Anyways, think of that FAU team that beat y'all in 2012 in Bowling Green, only with a real QB and an even better D.
Agree. I was at the Rice game and we were lucky. I thought it was over so I left early. Shame on me. You guys will be good.

That was my point with the other FAU fan...

it's luck if the other team does it but skill when you get the breaks.

MUTS and Marshall were lucky to get the win but it was all skill when Tulane threw 4 ints in 4 straight possessions.

Skill and luck were both involved in both....MUTS and Marshall were good enough to make the plays when they needed them and maybe had a few breaks go their way while doing it. On the INTs the FAU players had the skill to read the play (didn't watch this game) but were lucky the Tulane qb didn't check off and made the wrong read....

most ints are from making a forced throw or the wrong read..or a bad pass

As fans we really have a hard time admitting our teams are lucky at times...for some reason it takes away from being "good". But you also need the skill to turn a lucky break into a score.

I doubt you saw any of these FAU games to even comment with an intelligent viewpoint.

Marshall and MT I wouldnt say were completely lucky. FAU did compete though and they escaped.

With Rice though, that play was a complete fluke and pure luck...

I don't have to see the game to know getting 4 ints on 4 straight possessions takes some luck...tons of luck. If it was all skill that player would do it EVERY game.

You are the example of the fan I'm talking about...

The other team was lucky when you lose and your team is all skill when you win...even when you win on plays that only happen in a few...very few games a year in all of college football. I didn't have to see the FAU game to know this...I saw the WKU vs Tenn when we made 5 turnovers in 6 plays

Not with us. I brought up the fluke play with Rice. That was pure luck and wasn't forced... If you cant see the difference between a fluky luck play and just scoring at the end while earning it, I cant help you. Rice was VERY lucky to escape.
Your former coach cost y'all that game. Why pass the ball at that point, especially after how well the defense was playing?

~"In order to deserve the win, you have to put yourself into a position so that a unlucky bounce of the ball, an incorrect official's call, or a single possession at the end of the game won't put you in a position to lose the game."

For all the talk about "luck", in each of those situations the losing team hadn't separated enough over the course of the first 59 minutes to prevent a single play or event from significantly determining an outcome. When it comes to the end of the game, if the outcome rests on the final plays or in overtime (inherently designed to break a tie on the scoreboard as a result of single series of plays), then neither team did enough to ensure the game wouldn't be decided in such a fashion - then someone has to go and make a play to win the game.

Exactly what I said to the Rice fellow. We allowed ourselves to have luck be a deciding factor in the game, and that's our fault. Again, nobody to blame but ourselves.

I think you're not fully understanding what I'm saying. I never said it was ALL SKILL when good things went FAU's way, nor did I ever say the victors were all luck & no skill when FAU lost. So I really don't understand why you're harping on and on about something that nobody is talking about.

Again, I really feel like I could get more accomplished talking to a toddler. I'm done with this conversation.

RE: Phil Steele's new bowl projections
Marshall (or any G5) can not play in the Orange Bowl. I don't know how Phil hasn't figured this out yet. That game is contracted to be ACC #1 vs SEC/B1G #2. If the ACC Champ is in the playoffs, then the #2 ACC team goes to the Orange Bowl, it doesn't become at-large.

If Marshall (or any G5) is selected for an Access Bowl it will either be Peach, Cotton, or Fiesta.

Im not that fan at all. I am just highlighting the difference between losing a close game legit ways and losing because of a very fluky and lucky play. Rice was the latter. That play will barely ever happen at the FBS level in college football. That was just plain ugly.

You didn't see it though so you cant comment with any knowledge.

no one was quoting you so maybe when you grow up you will not jump into a quoted message and assume it was directed at at you. If the above message was meant for FAUAEPi it would have your message quoted...

unless you are saying FAUAEPi is also Ragu

But then again I didn't bring the Rice game into this...AS i POINTED out above 4 ints in 4 possessions has a ton of luck involved and that was the Tulane game

Luck isn't an outplay. MT beat FAU by a good play at the end of the game, a skill match up victory, over a team that was better than their record. There's no luck about it - either other teams outplay you, or you screw up.

Then we agree :) sometimes it takes both

Year before last Western was DEAD vs UNT...till we got lucky late in the game UNT threw the ball and our ALL American candidate picked it off for 6 points. Pure luck that UNT made the choice to throw against the grain and skill Mr President read it for a pick 6
