No. It would take a complete melt down for him to be fired.

I think any less than 5 and there will be grumbling (maybe not hot seat level grumbling, but a lot of people are going to start to question why we still can't put things together in year 3, fair or not).

Any more than than 7 wins or so, and it starts to become a question of whether we can keep him.

If the team doesn't collapse after the first half of the schedule, I'll be impressed.

Progress in recruiting and on the field has been very noticeable. Learning to win the close games we lost last year will be the next hurdle. And we have to beat the teams we are supposed to.

One upset would be huge.

He definitely has the program headed in the right direction from the hell hole it was in when he got here.

Yep, that and a real explanation why the defense didn't show up thelast two games last year are all I need to see.

We are finally approaching a full scholarship squad.

Some of our (his) guys are growing up, too.

I'm excited. But then, I'm always excited. GO TIGERS!

Now, back to Fishing with Bob.

It's a slow day at the office, so I'll bite.....

Anything outside of a Larry Porter type year and he is safe for at least another year. The last 2 games last year left an understandable bad taste in our mouths, but I think all of the close losses finally took their toll. I will be satisifed with 5 wins, but I think we will win 6 and sneak into a bowl.

Yeah, I'll bite, too. I think Fuente has until next year to get to 6 wins, unless we just fall completely apart. But I think Memphis has to get to 6 wins now.

I think he has 1-2 more years until it is necessary but this year he has a pretty good chance.

I agree it's a close call and is being batted around, but if we win, say, 5 games, and are competitive in the others (minus perhaps UCLA), then I doubt they will pull the plug.

It'll say a lot more about our school than Fuente if they did release him this year for not getting 6.

Be careful when I said the samething last month everyone said I was crazy or I had some agenda(which is the dumbest thing ever). But I do agree with the way college football is going if we could field a decent program we might get included in a major conference the next time theirs a shakeup.

I was thinking we could have won 6 games last year, but we decided to build for the future instead of going with experience. So i started out a little disappointed last year. Then the tail end of the season disappointed me more. It wasn't the losses. It was some key players not playing in the games (for whatever reason) that had me bummed out.

So this year, i think a realistic goal is 6 wins. Hopefully, paxton lynch has improved his game. He seems a smart kid and a hard worker, but he had a lot to work on. I don't expect bobby mccain will return kickoffs or return punts even though he is a weapon.

The last thing i want to see is paxton lynch not really working out for the tigers or seeing paxton lynch getting hurt early, and the tigers moving to yet another freshman (or inexperienced) quarterback this year or next year. That would probably be the biggest downer for me.

I think with 1-3 wins and it's 70/30 he's gone. Four wins and depending on how the other games go is boarder line. 5 and up and he's good for another season.

I think it all depends on the outlook.

If he's 5-7 and never gets blown out, even by UCLA and Ole Miss, then he's probably safe for year 4.

Not getting blown out one time over the course of a season would be a huge step considering it hasn't happened in about a decade.
