Geez, you just proved you're even goofier than I thought. Or not being honest. Either way, congrats.

The ability to consistently hit an open three would be a great help to his draft stock and cause a significant conundrum for our opponents. Our team, on paper, is unproven from the three point line.

You are so right, Oldmangriz. With the poor free throw shooting across college basketball, simply shooting what would once be considered AVERAGE from the line would translate to wins in today's game. You wouldn't have to be all that good as a team-or as a power forward-to really distinguish yourself from the pack.

Good interview........love the chemistry statements. I'm also excited to see Chris play and the improvement by King. I'm homer, but I think this team will surprise some people.

I wish Josh would draw a temporary 15 foot arc (like the 3 pt. line) and have the forwards SF and PF put up shots from around the arc after practice.

Most kids these days have ZERO midrange game.

10 and 15 foot would be good. And you are right about no midrange game. The top players usually do but most guys want to dunk or shoot the three and then can't make a free throw.

Midrange games don't make many highlight reels. We train 'em to perform with our praise of the spectacular.

Great interview! Glad to hear that everyone is bonding, and there is good chemistry! Hope this translates to more passing, less selfish plays!

RE: Austin Nichols on Sports Files tonight July 24
3 point shot is worth 50% more than a long or mid range 2.

It is not just glory seeking that encourages kids to shoot threes- it is raw numbers. A wide open mid range shot has good equity- but it has to be significantly better than the percentage on a three to be worth shooting. Must shoot 60% from 2 to equal 40% from three, and I would suspect missed threes result in more offensive rebounding too- although that part of the equation can be manipulated for whatever side you are on.

As long as there is a shot worth 50% more- and that is a lot of extra- the game really SHOULD be layups and threes. None of which is arguing that kids should not work on all aspects of shooting, far and near.

If the NCAA wanted to bring back an emphasis on mid range shots they would back the three up even more- to the point that percentages go down about 10-15%.

Wilt created the finger roll. And the 3 second lane. And the standard for the number of chicks a professional athlete needs to "know".
