And I have been pointing out that ESPN is wrong. They are not infallible. Why do you have a problem with me correcting false info. I can show you every box score from that season and his name does not appear.

Nothing personal about it.

If what's being said is anything close to the truth, Lawson is making about half as much at Memphis as he would have with at least 1 of his 2 offers, Vandy and OM.

If we hadn't hired him, there would have been a ton of questioning the head coach's judgement. I know that's not the "heat" that's being referenced above, but he's been a successful HS coach with a long run of top players tagging along. It was a no-brainer. He was the last HS HC to win an undefeated state title. That doesn't inherently mean that he's a great coach, but he's not a truck driver. He's also related in some way to one of our other assistants.

I'm pretty much driven by ethics and will (mostly) openly discuss issues with my own university, but it's hard to find much wrong with this hire.

looks exactly like something he'd love to pull off. he probably was all over it but lost out to the hometown.

to the memphis folks....is pastner getting any heat?

I am not aware of any outcry to date from the media.

i asked that poorly.

i didn't mean heat over this action. i meant heat over what i'd imagine memphis expectations are. has pastner lived up to booster/fan expectations?

There are high expectations associated with the Memphis job. There are fans - like during the tenure of the last Tiger coach - whose expectations have not been met. However, IMO the majority of Tiger fans and certainly the most important boosters underwriting the program are satisfied with his overall performance to date.

I was on record as questioning the move back when it was first reported. The issue for me wasn't with the university, but with the father himself. It just felt a little slimy...like he was using his kids for his own gain. Granted, this was before I knew he lost his job. He reminded me of some of the parents we have on our travel ball team. I always feel bad for the kids. However, it is 'Merica, and sounds like they'll all get to live out their repsective dreams.

ETA: As to the coach catching heat, there's a certain segment of the fanbase that keeps the chair nice and warm not only for any current coach, but also those yet to be named. Lol! I believe the correct terminology is "miserables."
