As long as Marshall is #1 in football, I honestly don't care about the rest. Marshall could ONLY have football and I'd be happy. Wouldn't have to waste money on sports no one cares about.

I hear ya, Cocky, and football will likely always be king in Huntington. But back in the day when football wasn't top dog , it was basketball that was THE sport and where Marshall played at very high levels. Football was an afterthought and a bit of national joke. That wasn't the case for Herd Basketball, however.

We used to play in the old Memorial Field House down on 5th Avenue...a LONG walk from campus, but the place was always packed and rocking. Students filled our sections, constantly. In the 60s and early 70s, Marshall was a well respected basketball power, at our levels. NIT bids, which had a bit more cachet than it does today, was usually the goal and very achievable. The Marshall Memorial Invitational was a GREAT tournament with some high profile teams always on the court. (I recall a game with Mississippi that was real barn burner.)

By the way, that was smack in the middle of the Mike and Dan D'Antoni era, so that is probably what is exciting some of us about Marshall basketball again. It brings back great memories of Marshall Basketball excellence.

It's hard to say if we will be able to get back to some great play, in the near future. But it sure is great when we play at those levels.

I've always felt the same, but about basketball.

I know people care about football (just like millions care about CBB), but it just isn't all that interesting to me. It is my second favorite collegiate sport, but my order of preference is CBB, NFL, NBA, CFB.

now if you want to trade jabs in his place i have no problem with that. i keep it real even when keeping it real can go wrong.

You know the feeling when you find yourself in a conversation and realize that the individual to which you are speaking appears more than one standard deviation from what you consider to be normal.

after you introduced it i asked you a question pertaining to the act. (that you introduced, not me)

the road you took was to a hidey-hole because you obviously don't want to answer the question. i did NOT introduce it into the conversation. don't get all pious and religious or too classy now.
