What is a troll?
OKLA asked me yesterday if I was a troll. Not being sure what term meant I googled it and read (yes, actually read the definition.)
Here is an excerpt.
Application of the term troll is subjective. Some readers may characterize a post as trolling, while others may regard the same post as a legitimate contribution to the discussion, even if controversial. Like any pejorative term, it can be used as an ad hominem attack, suggesting a negative motivation.

Here is my question. On a board entitled Spin Room, designed as a forum for controversial ideas and debate, can anyone really be labeled a troll?
One reason I started posting here was because of the HOMOgenous tone of so many posters.II think it's fair to say the vast majority of the posters here intensely dislike Obama and liberals, and MOST of the posts are aimed at criticizing Obama. So, to offer a small counter balance I sometimes like to jump in. Remember this board is called SPIN room, not conservative point of view room.
Many of you seem to come here to vent, looking for confirmation from like minded souls, but not really interested in entertaining a different point of view.

Your offering a different view is hardly special or worthy of praise.

A troll is someone who either blatantly or subtly invokes, or strings people along in a debate or conversation with the goal to anger or confuse. Messing with people.

I haven't seen a genuine troll since my usenet days. what we call "trolls" today don't hold a candle to the sh!t you saw go down in places like alt.flame.

ah, the good old days.

and I would suggest that you are a troll, and most likely a regular poster under another screen name.

I would suggest the admin compare your ip to prime suspect ip addresses.

I don't know why people call this board mostly Conservative... There are as many liberals as there are Conservatives, then lefties, righties and indies, and it pretty much balances out...

isn't that a "sock puppet"?

Dixie is a well known troll across multiple sports message boards. So OD, you are very right about that.

Just scan a couple of pages of thread topic titles. How many are critical of libs, Obama, gays etc. Hardly a balanced board. But it is the nature of upset people to complain the most and loudest.

Dude, you've been banned from every board you've ever posted on. Well, minus your own failed message board venture lol.

It's time you come out of the closet in regards to your trolldom.

Not everybody that is critical of Obama, gays, liberals, etc are Conservatives... I admit that I'll call any lefty a liberal, but I understand it's not always the case. You would probably be surprised at how many people that aren't even right, disagree with the gay agenda. NOT gays, but their agenda. And you'd be surprised at how many righties DO agree with it.

Normally, yes, but in this case, no. And I don't do it any more than you call anybody with a semi-right lean a Conservative.

I doubt it, seeing as though you think I'm a wacky liberal.

Point taken. Actually, I think we're describing a big part of the problem we all seem to have with discourse. We all immediately label each other without finding out what the other really stands for. By the way, whatever happened to being a moderate. Why is everything con/lib or repub/dem?
