Seems like a good get. He definitely has the facilities and recruiting grounds to win.

Have the facility, have the recruiting grounds, pay a high salary, and in this sport, have the attendance.
But we have our AD doing the picking.
He's still sifting through resumes and arranging interviews, while USF is making offers.

Tulane has a much richer baseball tradition than do we, so I'm pleasantly surprised we were able to win that battle. 04-cheers

Mark Harlan is changing the culture at USF.

This is a solid hire for USF.

RE: Kingston to be new USF baseball coach
So Kingston had SIX players drafted from his Illinois State team in the first 12 rounds while USF had ONE player drafted in the 38 round
Shows you the difference in coaches when you can get those results at Illinois State and our departing one couldn't even come close at USF

That or his recruiting was far superior. Either way, I wish him much success. 04-cheers

RE: Kingston to be new USF baseball coach
Tulane paid its former coach approximately $500,000 a year in salary benefits etc. Kingston is taking the USF job in the approximate $140,000 a year range.

That is kind of true. Jones was paid 500k at his best in 05. His base was in the 200s with very very nice incentives. Kingston will get that at USF despite a lower base than what Tulane is giving Pierce

We got the coach that we wanted at Tulane with David Pierce as he is a perfect fit for our program and look forward to the AAC conference match ups in the future between Coach Mark Kingston at USF and Coach David Pierce at Tulane, two of the top up and coming young coaches in the nation.
