2014 recruiting class...How many will show up?
The WOTS is that a few from this past recruiting class will not qualify academically. Rumor is that Alon Sims will be going the JuCo route already. How many more would you guess?

Oops...wrong thread. Apologies.

I don't think Lonnie Johnson is going to make it either. Haven't heard any others.

How many "stars" does that take away?

For someone who is quoted as saying they don't put any stock into recruiting, you sure do have a lot of opinions about it.

Not sure you're addressing me, your hokeyness, but I did not express an opinion.

Was just asking a question, hoping for a reply from THE expert.

Happens in nearly every program in the country, but you know that.

You didn't answer the question.

Stop deflecting - we signed kids with how many stars that aren't actually going to qualify academically?

Appears at least two already.

Signing kids with "stars" who can't actually get into school or play takes a little of bloom of your boy's rose.

Again - recruiting rankings in February followed by "oops" such as these do not translate into wins on the field.

I'll answer question for you since you won't, Rivals boy -

Sims 2-stars, Johnson 3 stars.

Doesn't knock our recruiting class from No. 1 in MAC or appreciably down FBS Team rankings.

Just don't use this as excuse for lack of on-field success in future years - unless you're willing to admit Fleck took gamble on kids that couldn't even make it into school as Freshmen.

RE: 2014 recruiting class...How many will show up?
That's because the answer is irrelevant. Losing those 2 kids (assuming this eventually get confirmed) is not going to have an effect when you have a class full of 25 of them. WMU could lose 5 players in that class and still have far and away the best class in the MAC. Sorry to ruin your narrative coach.

Of course Fleck took a gamble on some of these kids academically? What's your issue with that?

The issue is it is ineffectual recruiting, waste of time and resources, initially creates false optimism, and then when becomes known, (even more) lack of confidence in Fleck and staff.

Why don't you get that?

So you're saying you have a problem with college football coaches who take chances on kids? If that's your issue, then I can respect that. Just don't agree with it in every circumstance.

I can agree with those who initially didn't like taking a chance on the kid that defected from MSU. But even then, I have never met or talked to the kid myself, so I'd tend to give Fleck the benefit of the doubt knowing that he's dropped others with behavioral issues in the program (and on the recruiting trail) already in his early tenure.

I told Lonnie not to take Pre-Calc and AP Biology.

We're not Eastern.

We don't have to "gamble" or "take chances" on borderline academic kids.

Not as a university.

Only in sideline leadership.

And they didn't have a head coach.

Which makes Peej - worse than no header at all?

RE: 2014 recruiting class...How many will show up?
Fleck was taking a chance on Johnson from an academics standpoint, based on his athletic ability. Obviously it wouldn't be worth the risk if the kid wasn't talented enough to play at WMU. In Johnson's case, he held offers from some of the nation's most respected D1 football programs. Clearly, it wasn't just Fleck that wanted to take a chance on him judging by his offer sheet. Get a clue.

Sadly, EMU had more talent on the field than us. It doesn't even take a crowd of 200 EMU fans to see that.

Yeah? And he chose us instead of them? Har.

Maybe he'll get into one of those schools by August?

They played better than we did. Doesn't mean they had more talent on the FIELD than us.

Get a clue yourself.

It's a proven fact by multiple well-respected and proven media outlets that Johnson held offers from the likes of Ohio State and Nebraska at one point and time.

But you're probably right, they're just all coincidentally wrong and all reporting false information.

Knew there was spin going on with that recruit. Now the truth comes out.
