For Ga. southern, App state, New Mexico state, idaho who are you looking forward to playing in conference?

Bobcats and Panthers fans-who are you hoping to develop a rivalry with?

For me the biggest game will always be App St but I am also looking forward to playing Troy, Texas St & Arkansas St.

RE: Question to the Newbies...
App State and GaSt will obviously draw the most interest from our fans. I think the Troy game will be a pretty popular matchup as well. I'm not all that fired up about Idaho or New Mexico State, but I'm still looking forward to playing them. It's kind of bittersweet to not have Louisiana and StAte on the calendar this year.

RE: Question to the Newbies...
Honestly...I'm looking forward to playing everyone. I'm so glad that we aren't going to be playing schools with 10k stadiums with 6k people in attendance (3-4k of which are GSU fans)...while I'm stuck listening to the game on my computer b/c video isn't available/reliable. While, they're not on our schedule this year...I'm looking forward to playing ULL and Ark St. in the future the most b/c they seem to be the more consistent top teams. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.

I'm looking forward to picking up the "rivalry" with Troy again. Starting a rivalry with GaState will be interesting if they can prove to be competitive.

But the most interesting thing is that joining the SBC will open up more avenues to play other G5 schools that we couldn't get to schedule us while we were 1-aa. Picking up a H/H series with MTSU, WKU, USF, ODU, UCF, etc... wasn't possible until now.

In developing a rivalry you must anticipate a well fought game that either team could or would like to win each time they step onto the field. Of course proximity is a factor for traveling fans. Because of our past history that would make App.St a natural for our first rivalry in the SB.

Of course GaSt would seem to be a natural rivalry but for the RGSU or 6xGSU but I think us bringing more to the Ga. Dome than they bring would be a real bummer. I do see the PTTTGSU seeing us as rivals.

As far as the rest of the SB I think within 3 years you all will think of RGSU as your nemesis foes/ rivals.

RE: Question to the Newbies...
I'm looking forward to traveling to Texas St. the most, good college friends live in Austin.

Look forward to playing Troy, we had good games in the early 2000's.

GSU will be our biggest rival for the foreseeable future so they are the team I love to beat the most.

The team I'd least like to lose to would be GA St. or Idaho due to recent lack of success.

Surprising team I'd like to beat would be ULL. Them and state are the best right now, but ULL has a couple of fans that make them easier to dislike.

Other than GSU I'd like to have a rivalry with stAte, ASU vs. ASU.

RE: Question to the Newbies...
for this year, outside of App, I'm looking to play Troy. I think they will be a good measuring stick on where we are as a team. Even though they aren't where they were a few years back, if we can handle them this year, then I will like out chances in year two with State and Louisiana.

RE: Question to the Newbies...
For Texas State:

Louisiana, Arkansas State-Big Rivalry games-We owe them both because Texas State got punked by both

Troy, ULM- former SLC rivals
New Mexico State, Idaho former WAC rivals

New Rival-USA after last years game

Some fans look forward to Georgia Southern especially after all of the trash talking in the FCS playoffs of 2005

RE: Question to the Newbies...
For me-
1. Battle of the Sabine - Texas State vs Louisiana. The Sabine is the River that divides Texas from Louisiana.

2. The Chili Bowl - Texas State vs New Mexico State. San Marcos used to host Chilympiad (Chili Cooking Contest), Las Cruces is 40 miles from Hatch New Mexico home. Host a Chilicookoff surrounding the game.

3. Highwaymen Trophy - Texas State vs Arkansas State. Named for the Outlaw Country group featuring Johnny Cash (born in Arkansas), Willie Nelson (TX), Waylon Jennings (TX), and Kris Kristofferson (TX).

RE: Question to the Newbies...
Beyond the obvious Black n Blue Bowl, you always get excited when playing the top competition so of course I'm looking forward to Ark State and the Double L's. It sucks that we have to play them both on the road in back to back weeks in November though. It could very well prove to be a tough stretch for us. Outside of GaSo we're going to have to create rivalries on the field as we don't have any natural geographic ones in the Belt.

RE: Question to the Newbies...
Teams I'm excited to play in the SBC are UL, stAte, NMSU, GS, and App St. USA (after last year) and Troy are pretty exciting too. I want revenge against ULM and look forward to growing excitment against GSU and Idaho.

RE: Question to the Newbies...
Looking forward to playing against Idaho, TXST, ULL, ULM, stAte, Troy and the Georgia Twins this year. Down line look forward to playing App State and the Jags. I know I listed everyone in the conference for football, I just look forward to playing everyone. One thing we all have in common is our schools are not number one in our respective states.

NMSU Game Day Theme's/Events for SBC Games:
Ga. Southern: Tough Enough To Wear Pink
TXST: Military Appreciation
ULL: Homecoming
ULM: Undecided (most likely Senior Day/ Las Cruces Appreciation Day.)

That's a tough homecoming draw. :exclamation:

I'd love to renew the MT-GaSo matchup long term. That's a win-win out of conference for both of us, IMO. We recruit GA heavily, and it's a great regional matchup. Best of luck this fall.

Agreed. I was particularly bummed when I heard MTSU was moving out of the SBC. I knew we were joining and had MTSU circled as the rivalry I wanted the most in the SBC besides Appy.
