Simple as that.
Your statement of "Big 12, Big 10, AAC, or MWC seem to be preferred" is obvious. I'd wager top dollar that if HOD (or any bowl aside from Playoff bowls) could get out of the CUSA deal in favor of a Big 12/Big 10 matchup, they'd take it.

Irrelevant. When someone asks me how far a city is from here, I use what a roadsign would say, because that's technically the correct answer. "A little further depending on how far in you're going." It's as accurate as I can be without knowing exactly where they're going.
Disagreed entirely, city limit to city limit could be a difference of 20 miles or more if you're driving from the north end of one city to the south end of another, don't tell me it's irrelevant when you tell me 40 miles and it ends up being 55.

If it's Houston or LA, it could be a hundred miles difference; but you are being a bit picky here Kap.

Don't let this UNT troll ruffle your feathers. They haven't been good since like 2000 and I'm happier to have Texas State than them. Secondly, who the **** thinks UNT should be able to spew this inferiority complex like they were Oklahoma getting put up against Boise St in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. UNT blows.

I just don't think city limits to city limits is the way to give distances between two cities, in most cities there isn't much worth seeing or doing on the outskirts anyhow. The Atlanta city limits is not like being in the city and the city limits of some of the "suburbs" I listed are the absolute sticks, far more rural than suburban.

Point of contention, they won the Sun Belt from 2001-2004 and they were pretty good last year.

Since like was an approximation. I know they were absolutely dominating with those 8-5ish seasons during the weakest years of SBC history. We haven't lost to them in 9 years; but if they want to act like they are superior that's fine, just don't let the facts get in the way.

Sorry to break it to you (not that any of this is really important). I've lived here for 8 years. As soon as you hit the outer boundary of Troy there is a sign that says "Montgomery 40". One that says "Troy 40" when you leave Montgomery. 50 for Dothan. A sign that says "Montgomery 90" as you're leaving Dothan. Those sites are most likely computing courthouse to courthouse or some other central locations within the cities and not line to line.
I drive it about 10 times a year going to the gulf and about 40 miles sounds right to me. I know it takes me 30 to 35 minutes to get from the last light into Troy and to the turn at Montgomery. I average at least 80mph unless the grass in the media is high then you can bet a cop is sitting somewhere with a radar gun alone the way.
But this whole argument is silly because I agree with the Troy fan..
having a bowl 40 minutes away could get boring quickly. Especially since a lot of Troy fans probably visit Montgomery a handful of times a year.

so much bitterness.....
- Britton Banowsky, Heart of Dallas Founder and commissioner of Conference USA
You mistake bitterness for plain and simple facts.
For the vast majority of the time that UNT was in the Sun Belt, you sucked. I'm not dogging UNT for it. That's just the way it was. The Sun Belt members beat up on each other and played body bag games, keeping most Sun Belt teams out of bowl contention. You guys had a what? 3-4 year run, but that didn't matter because you were already tied into the bowl slots the Sun Belt had.

Just trying to be objective, "haven't been good since like 2000" just seemed like an odd statement, "approximation" or not, when you consider they won the first four conference titles, including three consecutive outright titles(a feat yet to be repeated), and Sun Belt football didn't even exist in 2000.
Look I'm no fan of UNT, I was very sad to see Todd Dodge go and I was skeptical of McCarney's hire, but they were a good team last year and he seems to have them moving in the right direction.

I don't disagree about the bowl, but that was not the argument I was making at any point.
