I think Auburn wants to play in Birmingham for the same reason the University of Tennessee Vols desires to play in Memphis: plant the flag and gain better access for recruiting purposes. IMHO, UAB should carefully consider the strategic long term ramifications of allowing the series.

Memphis is a more fertile ground than Birmingham.

You know your program better than I, but I am leery of the motives of P-5 schools bearing gifts (i.e., home games).

Auburn (Pearl) has already scheduled Middle Tennessee in Birmingham...he will do it against multiple teams on a yearly/bi-yearly basis...the same thing will be done in Nashville/Atlanta/etc...Pearl doesn't need us to get games at the BJCC...his success in coaching and time at ESPN all work very much in his favor...look at his recruiting so far at Auburn (with no contact!) and the way he is scheduling...when Au releases their 2014-15 schedule it will be their best slate in years...what many are missing is it's an IN-STATE game...Bama will never play us...Auburn hasn't in 15 years...once Pearl gets them going he might not be willing to be so "kind"...4 of UAB's Top 10 BJCC attendance records were set vs Auburn

Absolutely. You get it. Unfortunately, some of our other UAB fans don't get it. Auburn wants to play two games at their place and then wants the benefits of playing in Birmingham with only having to play one game at Bartow. Hell no!!!

Alabama probably had it's best group of high school ballers in recent memory this past class. Birmingham is not Memphis but it is still a great place to recruit kids and Auburn could definitely benefit from it.

I'm with you Tiger1983, UAB just should not fall on their hands and knees and bow to Auburn because they have Bruce Pearl as a coach now.

Depaul has the top 2 in attendance and I'd rather play them H&H than Auburn 1-2-1.

I'd be happy to play Auburn H&H or even in a holiday kind of tournament with other in state teams. USA, UAB, Auburn, and Samford or something similar.

LSU gave us a H&H. Georgia has recently as well.
