Interesting tale

Quote:Janet Mcdonald

I was going to the movies with a friend of mine from Yale who is black also. And there was a long line. And we were like, let's jump the line. These white people, they're going to be scared of us. We'll just go and jump the line. We'll get to the front of the line. So, of course, you know, we walked up to the front of the line, like, yeah, you want to try me? I'm black. That usually works in New York.

These people were ready to rip our hair out. And they were white. I couldn't believe it. And they were like, in French, what are you doing? The line starts back there. You can't just walk to the front of the line. They were, like, ready to kick our butts. I was shocked. I'm like, these are white people, and they're not scared of us?

That's when I realized I wasn't in Kansas anymore. And I liked it. I mean, of course, it was kind of humiliating, because you know, we're supposed to be the intimidating, scary ones. And then all these French ******* in high heels were threatening us. And they were in our faces. And it made me realize that the whole black-white game just doesn't work outside of the United States.

Because white people aren't afraid of you here. And at the same time, they don't hate you, because that sort of goes together. So I'll take it. I'll wait on line. Now I don't dare jump lines. So that opened my eyes.

That is so funny because my neighbor and I encountered the exact same thing but in our case we were let in to the front of the line. This happened in Dallas at a UTEP-SMU game tailgate. We were in a terrible mood for a beer as it was hot. There were a whole bunch of Smoo alumna and their daughters in some kind of ritual they have. We saw a beer stand and here we go ordering our beer and the Mexican kid serving the beer just looked at us "like, what are you doing, you're gonna get killed". He gives us our beer anyway and when I got mine I looked to my right and there was a huge line waiting for their beer but no one told us anything. It's still brings a chuckle to me because honestly we hadn't even seen the long line. But I'll bet they weren't saying nice things about us. LOL

There are a lot of places in the United States where Janet McDonald (1954-2007) could've found out very quickly that "the whole black-white game" is way different than the one she grew up with in Brooklyn and Vassar. Perhaps -- in spite of what she said in this interview -- she knew that was the case, which may be part of why she lived in France for so long. RIP.

Why would she have assumed she could jump line anyway? Cause she's black?

Isn't that the very definition of black privilege?

Reminds me of the Swedish lady blowing up when Oprah called her racist for showing her the $45,000 bracelet instead of the $50,000 dollar one. It's funny that obama is so quick to want to be like the Europeans, yet he continues to divide America by race.

Well according to the posted link they appeared to do it as a joke because the mentality they always encounter at home is because of their race its best not to bother them or they'll do whatever to them. If you listen to the audio shes clearly telling in in a self depricating manner poking fun at herself, and her view of a unified white mentality towards blacks.
