RE: OFFICIAL league announcement after meetings
Interesting. Now that the dust has settled a bit we can add an overview to this year's realignment speculation and conclusion.

First, it appears that the Sun Belt members don't see enough value in UMass nor NMSU to offer the invitations they desire. The Sun Belt has a bunch of new FBS programs who probably want to enjoy their new status without having to share it with other FCS' or homeless FBS programs.

I see it as kind of a Country Club mentallity; you got the Augusta National and Pebble Beach crowd and you have your PGA Resort and Hot Springs group. Big difference between clubs but in the end they are clubs and you can't just start one, you have to be invited.

So no to Liberty, no to ECU and Lamar, etc. No to UMass and no to NMSU. 'We've (i.e. the Sun Belt) got the last invitation to the ball and we sure as heck aren't going to be charitable with it'. Now if a JMU or Mizz St. want to bring their fancy britches over, that's another story.....but the club doors are locked to new members for now.

If the school can't pass a $100 student fee EKU is not going to be in much better shape in 1 or 2 years. The worse thing the EKU President could have done was put it to a vote. He's paid to made those decisions and to do what he thinks is best for EKU...

Something like adding student fees should have been between him and the BOR then explain why it's needed after it's passed. From what I read he seems to have a vision for EKU and to get it done he's going to have to take heat and go after the added cost to the students. Without it EKU is doomed.

Doomed anyway due to geography being so close to Lexington and UK...WKU has a hard time as it is 2.5 hours away, but EKU is UK East territory, rarely do you met EKU grads who are EKU first and not UK fans....WKU has our fair share too but a least we are a little bit away...
