Sun Belt Baseball Tournament Thread

We had guys who had pitched less than 30 innings all year (several of them) step up and get it done. Our closer pitches 5 innings in a start yesterday and comes in again today and pitches 2 innings of shut out ball. We were down 3-2 heading into bottom of 9th and put hits together to get it done.
This was just a sweet sweet tournament for us. We got to beat Furman 2 times yesterday to advance to the championship game and it felt so good to beat them on our way out of the SoCon. Samford today-- we looked worn out thru 6 innings today and had only 1 baserunner in the first 6 innings but came alive in the last 3 innings.
I was pulling for whoever won the Ga. Southern/App. St. game on Thursday to win it all and darn if we didn't get it done.
I was rooting for an App/Davidson/Elon/GS final 4

Me and my cousin watched ever second of that team in the CWS that year and he ended up in Lafayette two years later. Good luck this year and believe it or not I'll be rooting for the Cajuns again.

I'm still mad that we lost to Furman on Thursday. We got gunned down on the bases so many times and they had diving catches, then got one home run to win.
Add that plus the two very close GaSo games, App fans used up all their heart medication this past week.

So, a little OT but
UT was 5th in their conference, had the 32nd overall record on DI, went 1-2 in their conference tourney...tell me again how they get a Regional?
FWIW - TCU won the B12

easy- ut has a pretty good team, national recognition and to some extent these things are awarded based on bids to the ncaa, and ut has the money to bid high. they do this all the time. they play as few games as possible on the road and if they get in the playoffs they miraculously have them on their own field with favorable umps and a large supportive home crowd..

How that conference has fallen
That's the only sport they have any marginal success in (their only sport to have a winning record against us by 2 games), though they haven't been to many NCAA's. SELA was also one of the last holdovers to get accepted from the Gulf South, showing they really have a low performing athletic department.
I see Sam did their usual choke job in the conference tourney.
I for the life of me can't understand why McNeese has let their entire athletic department slip to stay in that sinking ship of a conference.
They have absolutely no where to go. They cannot afford to move up, and if they could afford it they would never get an invite to a league with ULM, La Tech or Louisiana.
That university has done more damage to or has tried to undercut every possible improvement that any other university in the state has ever tried to do sans LSU.
I hope they die on the vine and get stuck with a craptastic conference and never achieve success again.

I think the slc will eventually split and the texas schools and uca will add tarleton and angelo state. the la schools will join with some schools more in the south east. sfa and sam houston probably feel held back by se-la and nicholls and mcneese

To those who during the season, and during the tournament who indicated it would be a good thing if UL, for the good of the conference, took a dive. The constant chorus was that one game would not have any bearing on our goal of being a national seed.
Well according to the head of the selection committee the final three spots were up in the air between Louisiana, TCU, Rice, LSU, and Vanderbilt. Clearly if TCU, LSU, or Louisiana stumbled that would have been enough to allow the committee to go another way. I sure did not want the committee to have any excuse to shaft us. So to my sunbelt brethren who think one game means nothing next time you be sure to take one for the conference.

We coulda gotten two, but the Cajuns refuse to take a dive.
All kidding aside, next year I expect USA back, and fully expect the two Texas schools to be awesome. There will be four or more in the NCAA next year.

Dude, you are editing someones post because he didn't mention ASU? Its pretty clear that he stated the two Texas schools. I didn't know Jonesboro was Texas.

No, he specifically mentioned the Texas schools and USA as being good next year and potential NCAA teams. I just added one to his list to help him out.

Sounds weak and an abuse of authority on this board! Are you becoming the "new what about us fan base?" Pathetic!

He didn't edit the original post and just added ASU in quoted posts. Not abuse, just having a little fun with it.

Editing people's post should be a no-no since it was not his words. Joke are not, the moderators on this board should take it more seriously. Of course no one can change your post right?
