RE: Enos with 9 that nobody else wants
Hoekjeness, you dope. Recruiting is simply finding interested bodies that have potential. Of course, it is necessary to recruit well to have a chance to win. But if the coaching is not up to snuff, that potential is wasted.

There are no championships awarded to the team that recruiting gurus crown best class in the league. You are what your record says you are.

Our record says we aren't even close to good at this point. We don't have anything to go on except the promises that a wet behind the ears HC made to toot his own horn before he went out and laid an enormous egg of near historic purportions.

Leave it to idiots to celebrate our recruiting victories. If the recruits pan out and WIN, then I'll celebrate actual victory on the field, but I will not celebrate simply talking impressionable young men into joining the program. They fell for a sales pitch. They need to produce something worth celebrating before I join in the celebration.

This is sort of like the NFL rookies making big money before they ever play a down in the league. Prove yourself first. That goes for everybody, including the Head salesman.

Wow. Now you have MHB worked up. That's like getting Teemu Selanne mad.

Quote from the CMU board:

Quote:Recruiting wise cmu has offered early very early so who knows what other offers recruits may have had.

Let's see about his theory by looking at last year's 2014 signing class:

CMU recruits w/other offers besides CMU
EMU, Ohio, North Dakota (2), South Dakota, Bowling Green

WMU recruits w/other offers besides WMU
Bowling Green (7), CMU (5), Toledo (9), Ball State (4), EMU (8), Buffalo (3), Miami OH (4), Ohio (3), NIU (2), Akron (3), Kent St. (3), Indiana (3), USF (3), Georgia Tech, UMass (3), Old Dominion (3), Temple (3), Minnesota, Pittsburgh (2), MTSU, Cincinnati (3), Kansas St., Southern Miss, West Virginia, Illinois (3), Ohio State (2), Kentucky, Purdue (2), Missouri, Nebraska (2), Navy, Wyoming, Bryant, North Dakota, SIU, Wake Forest, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Oklahoma, Tulane, SDSU, Virginia, Florida State, Miami FL, Samford, FIU, FAU (3), Notre Dame, Syracuse, Wisconsin, Yale, Hampton, UConn

But who knows what other offers recruits may have had. 03-cloud9

I'm sorry... did the 2014 class go 1-11?

My last two posts were everything but subjective. Those were facts actually.

Recruiting is totally subjective. Actually.

So is deflecting a coaches lack of success due to the fact that he didn't report early enough to recruit for 2013.

Again read. You think recruiting is proof positive there will be success and think that's just hard evidence of success.

In reality, couldn't be further from the truth.

I'm sorry, I didn't see where you explained how recruiting is subjective. Waiting for your explanation.

In reality, couldn't be further from the truth? Are you saying great recruiting leads to worse teams? That's a strange statement... do you have any facts to back that up?

I don't think anyone would argue that the best player we had last year was a Fleck recruit, with Justin Currie being a close second.

For the most part the bulk of the starters were Cubit recruits, many of whom we're seeing real PT for the first time primarily because of a rash of injuries. These guys would have filled the need for depth but instead we're thrown into starting roles leaving virtually no depth.

You're foolish to blow off what this guy has done on the recruiting front. Guys like Jerry Faust and Brady Hoke are examples of guys who couldn't turn talent into wins, hopefully Fleck isn't going down that road.

I have to explain to you how ratings on recruits are subjective?!

Really? I should ask you how they're NOT subjective. MHB is right.

Also, your boy showed up late, his choice and didn't recruit for 2013. You can't blame Bill for that, and to that note his first year he recruited guys who contributed to the turn around and we went to a bowl.

Peej has already failed in comparison.

Teams that have claimed great recruits that have flopped are too numerous to mention and yet another example of your naïveté.

Getting kids to play for Western Michigan over legitimate offers from places like Ohio State, Florida, Oklahoma, etc. has NEVER BEEN DONE here before, let alone anywhere in the MAC.

(No, it doesn't equal automatic success on the field... we know that 04-chairshot. You're just stating the obvious)

I didn't ask you to explain how ratings were subjective. Everybody knows ratings are subjective.

I asked how a scholarship offer was subjective. Why won't you answer the question directly, DB, without trying to constantly deflect?

Yeah. BEATING BCS teams is something that wasn't done here before with any regularity. We had some success against them lately. I'd rather crow about that than subjective bs like star rankings and what you slappies call legit offers. Please ladies. Put your cheerleader unis on and make sure nothing shows. 03-melodramatic
