With the 6-5 walk off win today against Furman, App finishes fifth in the SoCon and will play 4 seed Georgia Southern in the second round starting next week.
Yeah yeah, I know we aren't in the SBC yet.

UL takes ULM down in 14, 6-5. Awful baseball on ULs part.. still mental toughness, superior coaching and talent ruled the day for UL!

Cajuns walk off against ULM in the bottom of the 14th and win 6-5. Needed to win this for national seeding purposes. If I remember correctly, it'll be either ULM or UALR in the first round for us, but I could be wrong.

With the Cajuns win Troy locks up the 6th seed in the tourney regardless if Troy beats or loses to USA tonight.

We will likely play stAte first

ASU beats UALR 7-2 to finish finish the regular season 14-0 in the final game of a 3 game series. We are 4-10 on Friday, including 3-7 in league...but no one can touch us on Sunday.

Texas State finished choking worse than we did, so we get the 3 seed in Mobile and get to face our Arch Nemisis the Evil Left Handed Shane McCain and Troy.

In the final ever SoCon sporting event in Boone, App State walked-off Furman to win the game and series.

The win turned out to be the difference between 5th and 8th. The latter would have meant a single-game eliminator at Noon Tuesday. Now we're in the 4v5 game versus Smelly at 10 am Wednesday.

Glad South Alabama won today. It would be tough to host SB baseball tourney and not be a participant.

In the SoCon we finished 4th and finished the year on a good note-- went 5-1 in conference last 2 weekends including winning 2 of 3 from 1st place Western Carolina last weekend.

Ga.Southern vs. App.St. Wednesday 4 vs. 5 game.

Working on confirming times...but here is your SBC Tourney Bracket. As host, USA gets choice of game time (They'll take the late game) That should bump The Cajuns bracket to the afternoon, but never underestimate Karl Benson.

Bracket 1: (Team listed 2nd is home team)

Louisiana Monroe vs Louisiana Lafayette (Hey didn't they just play?!)
Western Kentucky vs Texas State

Bracket 2:

Troy vs Arkansas State
South Alabama vs Texas Arlington

UL-ULM will be 12:30 game on Wednesday. Higher seed always plays last game on that side of that bracket.

Strange year in the Sun Belt this year--- 1 very dominant team and teams who normally are good struggled. 2nd best team in RPI (Ark. St.) with RPI of 59.

Down year for Troy and USA, and Texas State laid an Egg the last two weeks to keep them down.

UTA had an awful OOC run, but won 18 of their last 24 league games to finish 19-11. ASU was picked to struggle to make the tourney, loses its best hitter and best pitcher pre season, and becomes the most consistent of the non Cajun teams most of the year until another injury caused a slight fall off late and a 3rd place finish.

GSU beat themselves. Otherwise, UALR, WKU, and ULM all about finished where they normally do.

Half Game difference between 6th and last this year. Yeesh.

Troy and USA lost a lot due to the draft and graduating seniors... It was expected. Though I expected us to finish 3rd or 4th not 6th

Some oddities in the SoCon this year also. Big big surprise was Davidson who finished 2nd. Usually they are near the bottom. Elon who normally in near the top finishes 7th. Western Carolina wins the regular season.

It was a season of "what if" for Ga. Southern. While 34-20 in a good regular season record we could have been much better. We were 4-3 vs. top 50 this year but for whatever reason had a number of mind-numbing losses vs. teams we should have not lost to. ERA was just over 3 as a team and was the 3rd best season ERA ever in a season for us. So pitching was good this year. Defensive lapses hurt in some games and we went through about 15 game stretch where our hitting was just not there.

ASU and Troy meet in the first round for the 2nd straight year. We have met in the tourney the last 3 seasons now and 4 of the last 5. As per typical in our series...Every Game has been close...and Troy usually wins (4-2 in this stretch). Per their policy, Troy always throws a lefty against us because we stink against lefties.

History usually dictates that one team will eventually eliminate the other.

Looking forward to the Sun Belt games next year and some new teams coming to Statesboro. I am somewhat familiar with Troy and South Alabama but we generally have not played them in last few years. Georgia St and App. St. are really the only 2 teams we have played in the last 3-4 years.

As has happened too often, our hitting/ability to get runs across the plate goes south just in time for the conference tourney. 03-banghead

Georgia Southern and State haven't played in baseball since 2007. Southern does lead the overall series 58-17, however,
