UCF is in unincorporated Orange County.

This tennis facility will be awesome! UCF Tennis will be part of the largest tennis facility in the United States. Should definitely help with recruiting.

Wish the main campus had the space to house things like this and the medical school - rather than it being 30min south in Lake Nona.

Makes complete sense. As someone who spent 7 years in grad schools, the last thing you want to do is fight undergrads for parking and classroom space. There's no time for that. The ability to easily get on/off campus and park as close as possible to your venue is priceless. Plus, they're building a campus downtown that will have 10,000 students, so the main campus is less defined.

Press release says it will be the home of UCF tennis teams. Should be close to UCF's new College of Medicine.

Nothing better than playing tennis on campus... 05-stirthepot

No knock to UCF or Orlando, but personally I think the USTA moving the facility away from the National Tennis Center is a mistake... the close proximity to sponsors, money, the US Open has been squandered over the last ten years and moving to a new facility 1000+ miles away won't help streamline American Tennis - just create more factions and more overhead costs!

The vast majority of US pro tennis players live in the southeast. Having the main training center in NY is silly and has been for many years.

The whole point of the new Orlando location is to be able to streamline the White Plains, NY facility, the Mobile, AL facility, and the Boca Raton, FL facility into one large facility in Lake Nona. If anything, it's less overhead costs.

Plus...having a location with the largest number of courts (all brand new) with multiple surfaces where players can play/train YEAR ROUND...all located right next to Orlando International Airport (stones throw away), and located in a very nice/exclusive development like Lake Nona...its a no brainer move.

White Plains, NY? Mobile, AL?

Please.......

USA Tennis needs all the help in the world in trying to develop future stars...and maybe this facility might help in that endeavor because the old way wasn't cutting it on the world-wide stage.

Plus, partnering with UCF to have a top collegiate facility will offer AAC a great location for conf matches and conf tournaments...let alone a nice NCAA Regional site location as well. (Championship courts will be built with tv facilities).

NOTE: What's somewhat ironic is the Lake Nona's Golf Club is mostly known for their European Players that built homes at Lake Nona and are members of that beautiful course..such as Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Ian Poulter, Reteif Goosen, Annika Sorenstam, Graeme McDowell, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and others....will now be known as the home for US Tennis.

from what I read the college section would be UCF's because they are raising the money to build that section.

RE: Future home of UCF tennis
Here's a better view of what the UCF & collegiate tennis area will look like at this new venue:

Collegiate facility will include:

A collegiate tennis area that will feature 12 hard courts and one future tournament show court, allowing two collegiate matches to be played simultaneously. The courts will be equipped for television and have seating for 1,200 people, and the area will feature a two-story pavilion for concessions, public restrooms, team locker rooms and areas for trainers and officials. This area will serve as the home of the University of Central Florida men’s and women’s varsity tennis programs.

UCF will be raising private funds to help develop the collegiate portion of this giant new facility.

UCFs grow on the South Side of Orlando will only continue to grow with this new facility as the tennis centerl be in the same Lake Nona development area as UCF's new College of Medicine

.....and also nearby UCF's world renowned Rosen School of Hospitality.

If that's the case, then props to UCF.

This gives UCF a huge recruiting advantage for tennis. They should be able to recruit the top players in the nation that want to go to college but have professional aspirations. JEALOUS!

Future home of UCF tennis
Remember it is all part of the facilities plan to move some other athletics around on main campus. Lake Nona was places where it was for research and to help attract other major medical providers. There is a huge va facility Nemours etc. There are several regional campuses
