RE: ODU Blog New G5 section with AAC
P5
1, SEC
2, B10
3, PAC12
4, ACC
5, Big 12
Odd one
AAC
G4
1, MWC
2, CUSA
3, MAC
4, SBC
In my opinion there is a very big gap between the P5 and G4.
And i think we don't fit with either. We are far better than any G4 conference but not very close to the P5 either so its hard.
I think were right in the middle.
For anyone who argues that we are G5, than we are the unanimous king of the "G5" then.

I view it the same way, grapes... The AAC is in a class by itself... Middle is probably an okay term to use for now.
But yes, definitely above the G4, hands down.

There's no group of people out there who "argues" that we are G5, as that implies there is a debate about it, something to argue about, when we are, factually, a member of the G5. Your statement is like asking "for anyone who argues that there isn't a tooth fairy ..".

If nobody was arguing about it you wouldn't be having this endless conversation with everybody here.

There's a reason I said "out there", meaning in the real world outside this forum. This forum is filled with delusional sorts who "argue" about things that are recognized as facts by everyone else.

Agreed, and while I'm sure the OP means well, he's barking up the wrong tree. This conference would prefer to be an Army of One rather than be in a Group of Five.

... and I would prefer to be the Shah of Iran. But the fact of the matter is, we are in the G5.
This blog really does seem like a good way, particularly the G5 Top 25 idea, to track who is most likely to get the G5 Access Bowl slot. Could be an interesting read during football season.

until the AAC is in a position where they can poach any other g5 conference at will, they have no right to assume that they are better than the entire g5. last i checked two MWC schools opted NOT to join this conference.

Not sure if fau has the same problems?
To even argue that c-usa teams are at the same level is laughable. I do think odu has potential for the record.
FAU has an AM and FM radio broadcast. The pressbox and the rest of the stadium are arguably the best in the state, something FIU can't come close to saying. Attendance is a problem, but again not as bad as FIU.
Hope this helps.

you're completely right, I think at the end of the day all you really need to look at is what conference can choose who they want at will from the others.
and I can see how SDSU, and Boise going back to the MWC makes us look weaker. but at the end of the day it was really us who was unwilling to do the things they wanted in order for them to join and a few other things. I think it makes the MWC look bad, because even though they stayed there is still the fact that they were seeking to leave the conference for us.
Im sure if we were desperate for them we could have got them, but we weren't. In this situation all you can really look at now is how our conferences actually compete.
And in our first year the American got the BCS bid (and won)
and even Won the national championship in Women's and Men's.
Not even getting into the smaller sports.
They're definitely a good conference, though I believe we have the edge.

What are you talking about ? The MWC had to sell it's soul to Boise to keep them in the conference. That is the only way they could keep them.

Correct. MWC gave Boise a sweetheart deal. AAC was unwilling to do this. That is why Boise went with MWC. SDSU didn't want to go back, even after Boise left (they took their time making this decision), but their hand was forced once Boise left.
Some people need to relearn history.
