If it meant at best 7-5 forever with no real hope of growing and being a conference homecoming game then I will take the other option. I could give a crap less about becoming the next Vandy or am star struck about playing SEC teams. Cant wrap my head around giving up an NC over going 7-5. Also, unlike some GS fans I have not affinity with the other P5 instate teams. thUGA and GT nerd herd can burn to the ground for all I care. There are plenty of other good programs to play OOC within in driving distance.

Amen

The other question was at least somewhat realistic. A scenario in which G5 has access to the playoffs, be it auto bids for all conference champs, just one spot with stipulations, or somewhere in between, a scenario in which a Sun Belt program rises up and has a magical season and pulls off the most improbable playoff run, probably in the history of American sports is at least conceivable.

A scenario in which a member of any G5 conference becomes a perennial national title contender is beyond fantasy land and the notion that they wouldn't move up conferences after winning multiple national titles is just bizarre.

I chose option 2.

All you have to do is compare the new football operations buildings Washington State and Boise State have built. WSU spent 3x the amount of money that BSU spent, on a facility that's only 17% bigger. That's what being a G5 contender and P5 loser gets you.

The G5 schools won't make a 4 team playoff, that is a fact. If this whole thing was bumped up to 8 teams it could be a possibility. Boise St was a national title contender every season, or at least I would consider them one, and they moved up to MWC but never got in to the P5 class. It would definitely be a long shot of one of our teams winning a title, but with a playoff anything is possible I suppose.

I didn't vote cause at this point I'd settle for a winless season.

This is like those psych tests. The answer shows what you put more emphasis on. In this case you want a winning team or lots of money. The Idaho poster perfectly illustrates this by comparing bsu to wsu. He said he'd rather have fancy digs than a winning team.

IF. My team was able to win national titles at the highest level without leaving then why leave? The whole point is to win. I understand that some want to argue semantics and probability, but simply take the question at face value and assume that is the only outcome of your choice.

I'd argue that anyone that chooses the NC does not have the best interest of their school or athletic department at heart.

And the fancy digs vs winning team is just another oversimplification by people making the shortsighted choice. Going P5 doesn't mean you aren't going to have a winning team and taking the NC doesn't guarantee you a single win outside of the championship season.

The question really boils down to: Do you want exposure, or knowledge that you're the champ.

For me, as a fan? I want the championship.

For me, looking out for my school? I want the exposure.
