RE: Camellia Bowl Date and Time Set
December 20 will be on a Saturday. Not too close to Christmas, and school should be out. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we'll have a large showing.

Can't have a very large showing. The stadium doesn't seat enough folks. 02-13-banana

You should be less concerned about the date and time and be thankful that you have another bowl tie-in. Last year the Mw had 3 bowl games on the first day of bowl season.

Unless I misunderstood your understanding of my post, I really think they really did us well in our time slot. Unless, we are going head to head with an NFL game.

A Saturday evening nearly a week away from Christmas is a great bowl time even for a P5 conference school. I'd be happy it stAte got selected to this bowl.

This is a great time slot. Dont care who we would be up against, like NFL, it would actually be a time I or most could take off for a weekend and still spend holidays with family.

RE: Camellia Bowl Date and Time Set
Sounds like a great date , place and even time. Rather have it in
Montgomery than up North at that time of year especially. That time of year a lot of
people may be late getting in from Christmas shopping, so time is
even better. Imagine a lot will fall asleep watching on TV by the end of the game though.

Its 20 minutes from my house, so I'm a happy camper. TROY should be going to this bowl, so I'm even happier.

Montgomery Alabama ....Bahamas...Montgomery Alabama ....Bahamas...Montgomery Alabama ....Bahamas

Does the date really matter? ask any player, coach, school official, or fan that would travel to both, no ask your wife and kids, which one they would pick to spend a few day at.

Well good luck to you on selling the misses on spending $1000 to $1,500 on a trip to Montgomery Alabama right before Christmas...

and the last weekend.

But yeah, kids being that young, I can see your point. But hey it's a great time to teach them, Santa will find them no matter where they are. :)

I honestly don't have any problem with Montgomery as a bowl site...

it's only a 2.5 hour drive to the Gulf and fishing.. I go there every chance I get. As a matter of fact heading down there tomorrow for 6 days of sun, and fishing. But still I think every school would choose the Bahamas.

Not sure on which bowl a school with a choice would choose. A lot of factors. Montgomery would seem to be fertile recruiting ground, cheaper travel, and a chance to bring 10k fans for most SBC programs. The Bahamas sounds nice and might be a bigger reward for the team, but it would cost a heck of a lot more and most SBC schools would be lucky to get 2k to travel. I have been to Mobile 3 years in a row and had a fantastic time. Not sure I could justify the $$ for a trip to the Bahamas.

Never thought I would see a day where the Sun Belt had 3 and next, 4 bowl tie-ins. SBC has come a long way. People may still gripe but SBC couldn't get those if they didn't have quality programs and sponsors didn't think the teams were a good investment. SBC has quality and is getting a more respect.

The year my mother-in-law died, my wife wanted to change things up and go to Disney for Christmas, the kids HATED it not being home for Christmas, we still call it the worst Christmas ever.
