Sun Belt Conference Softball Tournament Central
A nice link for those interested in the softball tournament. A bonus is that it appears that all the games will be streamed live for free.

Nine innings for the ULM-GSU game but who's counting? It's already a good tournament for the Warhawks no matter what happens later.

That was a hell of a game. I'm still amped up from that hit.
Not everyday you see a walk off grand slam.

Not everyday you see a walk off grand slam.

It was even more dramatic as it started with two out. The inning started with a two out base hit by Haley Hayden (not freshman of the year) off of last years SBC pitcher of the year Emily Rousseau. That was followed by another hit by Lexie Elkins (thanks Texas Tech) that put runners on 2nd and 3rd. A walk loaded the bases. After falling behind 0-2, Shellie Landry worked the count to 2-2 before launching the home run to end it. If the announcers for the game were correct, this is their 5th walk off HR this year. We may have to start calling them the cardiac Cajuns. I should have mentioned that was a freshman and three sophomores doing the damage.

For the next few years, be very afraid.

USA and Louisiana will not have much dropoff, if any. Both have young teams. USA only has 2 seniors. Hopefully the league can continue to improve (Georgia Southern is usually decent I believe). Last I looked we were rated the 4th best softball conference.

It will be interesting next year. The Cajuns lose Natalie Fernandez and Shelbi Redfearn, with Christina Hamilton and Jordan Wallace being the two seniors next year. All the rest are freshmen/sophomores. We've over achieved this year, and if you'd have told me at the start of the year that Jordan Wallace would have a 4+ ERA with the schedule showing Baylor (3), Oklahoma (3), Michigan (2), Texas (2), USF and North Carolina not counting South Al, WKU, and Texas State in conference I would have said we'd probably have 15-20 losses. To only have 7 losses it so much more than was expected.

Next year will be interesting I just hope someone steps in and fill the void being left by the loss of WKU. This has been a very exciting year in the SBC every championship has been competitive. There is a lot of work to be done to bump us up but at least we are all competing. Now if we can only win some OC games in football. Lets go SBC

From the softball perspective, I understand that Georgia Southern is pretty competitive.

The Cajuns have won 34 out of their last 36 games, that is a crazy winning percentage. It's too early for us to talk about next season, but I fully expect that team to have more talent then this year, even with the loss of Fernandez and Redfern. This season has just been so much fun to watch, perhaps his best coaching job with this team.

Yeah, our softball team has always been one of the top teams in the Conference. I look forward to seeing how they do in the Belt.
