A question about beer at SBC fb games
We here at Ga. Southern are going to start selling beer at home games this year. Is this done at other SB schools?

Not legally, but there is still plenty of alcohol at The Rock.

RE: A question about beer at SBC fb games
The same is true definitely here at our home games, but this will be the first year beer is sold inside the stadium legally.

It is allowed in SM (it is an individual schools' decision) but the school pres won't have it. As long as she is there it won't happen at Bobcat Stadium.

RE: A question about beer at SBC fb games
Beer will not be sold inside the stadium. It will be included as a perk for a particular premium section. That is much different than offering it for sale.

Alcohol has been allowed in the luxury boxes before as BYOB, so it's not like the school has had an issue with it in the stadium prior to this.

I guess I misunderstood what our AD said then. I thought it would be sold inside the stadium to the general public who are of age.

I expect your ticket sales will increase for that single reason alone. It's illegal in NC to sell alcohol on a college campus with the exceptions of hotels and non-profit alumni associations on a temporary basis.

Most likely it will be for sale at Troy this year. They just started sales in baseball this season. Look for more stringent rules on out passes and bag searches coming into the stadium. It has long been BYOB in true stadium club and suite levels.

Nope. It won't be walk-up counter service, that won't fly for a number of reasons.

It will be part of a ticket package, and only available for certain sections. Additionally the ticket holder will obviously have to be of legal age. The limitation from what I've heard so far is the new club level seats (107, perhaps 106 and 108), Bishop Endzone seating and the previous areas which include the President's Box, private suites and Stadium Club.

I have heard some scuttlebutt that they are working on the overall vendor contracts, and that may have something to do with whether they can offer this up to the existing Eagle Club seats (south side stands), because right now those contracts go through GSU Auxiliary. I think eventually you'll see all of those areas handled the same way, but perhaps not this year.

RE: A question about beer at SBC fb games
Thanks for the clarification. If it will increase revenue and increase ticket sales I am for it. I really like that all our home games this year are night/late afternoon games. That is a step in the right direction toward increasing attendance I think also.

It's sold at Ladd during USA football games, and on campus at basketball and baseball games. Baseball isn't the same without it.

Dry County, so no beer sales in Jonesboro, though there is talk that once the stadium is renovated we will create a premium section that sells alcohol.

Either that, or you have to hope Jonesboro voters choose to make the county Wet one day...but as long as the churches in town are against it, it will never happen.

TXST's trying to hard to shed the old "party school" reputation to allow that in the next decade.

If I drank before going into the stadium then that much at the stadium I would
have to watch the game later on video.

I don't see that there's anything wrong with it. It's a revenue producer and if you are 21, what's the big deal?

Most people are tailgating for hours and then bringing in mini bottles.

Cut off sales at start of 3rd quarter.

At Cajun Field we cut off sales at the end of the 3rd.
Beer selection isn't bad either. More than just your typical domestics.
Although the best beer selection is at basketball and baseball games.

The selection at Troy consists Ultra, Bud, Bud Light, Stella, Rolling Rock, and all the Rita's.
It was done in Troy with little to know public knowledge from what I've been told. I'm sure there has been some backlash from some in town, but it's a state deal not a town issue.

Georgia State has beer. Only problem is it's at Georgia Dome prices($7 for a Coors Light). It's really only good to maintain what you did out at the tailgate.
