Hey why not invite the Mexicans? Huge markets and student enrollment.

I know this is toungue in cheek, but it really might not be a bad idea. Invite a Mexican school that is close to the border with similar enrollment size to most SB members. They would almost certainly field men's soccer, and they definitely fit the Sun Belt footprint more than UMASS or Idaho. Latinos are a huge growth market in the U.S...

The UT System is promoting football in the Rio Grande Valley and the new UT-RGV.

AState-Q will have a hoops gym, probably a soccer field too, I don't remember, I mainly remember that they will have a place for hoops.

How about that 340,000 student university in Mexico City.
Would the visiting players be safe? Not sure all of them or their parents would have no concerns.
Especially with headlines of an American being chained to his jail cell bed in Mexico
supposedly because he missed a turn and went into Mexico on the highway illegally.
Isn't just across the border pretty wild?

The border is something akin to Iraq right now. If you make a u-turn or turn off into Mexico with something questionable like a disassembled gun in this case you're going to be in deep horse manure. The level of precaution and panic is pretty high thanks to the Zetas. Mexico City is a million miles away from the situation on the border.

Back before the violence, Monterrey Tech might have been a viable option. But the violence has made the point moot. The recent successes in the drug war in the interior have been notable. But we are long way from a secure country for collegiate sports.

It amazes me how little people know about the violence going on along the border. It's a bad idea to even think bout living in towns like Laredo, Brownsville, Del Rio, Eagle Pass or El Paso. Still amazes me UTEP gets recruits. Rather take my chances in the 5th Ward at night with a Rolex on my wrist and a fresh pair of Jordans than get caught in or near the border.

I guess you fail to realize some of those cities like El Paso actually have a low crime rate by American standards? The cities on the Canadian border combined have more murders than all of the Mexican border cities combined...

Yes they do and it is very popular. I know folks in Monterry that are huge Saint fans. They play two NFL games every Sunday throughout Mexican broadcast TV.
