Yes, they play American Football. They play in stadiums ranging from a few thousand to more than 50,000.

Looks like some of the schools even have better attendance than some of the G5 schools.

Obviously the idea of inviting them into an American league would be absurd though. The talent level in Mexico is terrible compared to the U.S. and very few Americans would be willing to go play in Mexico.

Rather take my chances in the 5th Ward at night with a Rolex on my wrist and a fresh pair of Jordans than get caught in or near the border.

The interior cities are a safe as American cities. The border towns are like the wild west.

The NFL is thinking about adding Mexico City.

I think it'd be a huge mistake honestly. It's going to be hard to get players to go play in a country that doesn't speak english and has a reputation for violence.

Also not a great option, but Rio would be a better option. Similar time zone to the U.S. east coast, growing NFL popularity and a country noted for warm beaches, beautiful women, and great night life. I think that would be a much bigger draw (but still not a great one) for players than Mexico City.

Although one is likely safe on this forum, I rarely click links unless I am very confident in the source. It's all to easy to download a virus, intentional or not, that way. Call me overly cautious if you want but that's the cyber world we live in. At some point I wonder if some American sports conference would ever or has ever considered expansion beyond the border to some extent. For that matter why not expand north into Canada. It is much more stable and safe in general. I presume there any many significant reasons why it hasn't ever been done or else we'd already have seen it happen.

As far as college athletics, it may take a vote of the Division I President’s Council to allow a foreign university to join that division of the NCAA. That's what happened with Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., to become the first member from outside the U.S. to join the American college sports governing body. That was in Division II, not sure it has happened in DI yet.

You guys are missing the huge opportunity with the University of Puerto Rico.

Quote:The University of Puerto Rico (UPR) is the state university system of Puerto Rico and a government-owned corporation of Puerto Rico. It consists of 11 campuses and has approximately 58,000 students and 5,300 faculty members.[4] UPR has the largest and most diverse academic offerings in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, with 472 academic programs of which 32 lead to a doctorate.[5]

The prestige and eliteness of the University of Puerto Rico within the Caribbean and Puerto Rico is unparalleled:

How about having Texas-Arlington reinstates football and adding Jacksonville as a non football school?
