The question then becomes where do those fans come from, the fans that answered none of the above, the fans from the smaller schools, or will ASU take the biggest hit since they are the only other D1 school in the state. It will probably be across the board with each losing 1 to 2 % with ASU probably taking at least a 2% drop and maybe 2.5 because they have the second highest numbers and the only other FBS football school.

If this was a poll in KY did after the basketball season uk's numbers would be up...if it was last year UofL's numbers would increase....

we all have a large % of fans that wants to follow a winner

All true. Especially if you do nothing to capitalize.

The main gist of the thing is that you've got to identify these people and start making it easy for them to engage with your school.

In particular we need to get these people to publicly identify themselves with our schools. Even if only a bumper sticker on a few thousand additional cars.
Sadly, many of ours are easy to identify; they are disenchanted alumni. We are starting to turn the corner with theat group, though, and have made good inroads among high school students, particularly in the heavily Cajun/Creole areas in Louisiana [Acadiana, the River Parishes and New Orleans].

We have the same. Part of that was failure to engage them when they were students and failure to educate them on the school's history and why it is important to them to support the school...win or lose.

How many times is the LSU or a coach quoted saying everyone in the state is a tiger or the Louisiana is lucky having only one school or team.

It flies in the face of the media and UA claims about the state. Everyone is a hog no 51%

Its simply an observation, don't get insulted buddy. I know what passes for sports coverage in my state, why would I care what passes for sports coverage in the Little Rock and Jonesboro markets? Seems to me you've taken a small poll sample and are running with it in jubilation. Was this poll taken in every medium sized market in Arkansas?

It is a neutral poll by PublicPolicyPolling as a side-question in what was primarily a political poll. Margin of error is 3.4%

The poll seems to have overweighted Republican primary voters a little bit....which might mean a bit of a Northwest Arkansas bias.

And...If you don't care. Try another thread.

Again, you guys are thinned skinned as any Cajun fan on this board. You can take this poll five different times and come out with a different result every time. My two points are there are only two FBS programs in Arkansas and as someone else stated, two FBS programs are closely ranked behind Astate and combined have as many fans. Two things are apparent in this poll, Arkansasa has less support then advertised and in spite of recent success, state's brand is not much greater than several FCS programs. Sorry if you are insulted by that.

Well, only two have been done. This one and Nate Silver's and they both have similar results. You'll pardon me if I put more weight on their numbers and margin of error. Your sample size is currently 1.

Also, just because someone thinks you are full of it doesn't mean they are insulted. They just think you are full of it.

No one is questioning Nate Silver's poll, we simply view the results differently. If you want to celebrate the results as something earth shattering, by all means celebrate! There was no need for several of you to come off as thin skinned blowhards! But hey, we know Cajun fans aren’t the only ones that **** a stone when they get upset! Level headed? What a load of BS!

Lets call a spade a spade, VO... Ray Authement was one useless POS who reigned over our fine university for 32 years... Let that sink in... 32 ******* years.
The guy was useless. We lost a whole generation of fans.
Its amazing what has taken place at UL in three short years, with half assed management.
Watch what happens when we finally get it all together!

I think it is more that you aren't really able to grasp what it is that multiple A-State posters have said about the poll and how it relates to the situation in Arkansas.

It is an important poll because of how different the results are from the line UA and the state's media puts out. UA fans would swear that our share of the state would be 1% or less. Many would believe that their share is about 99%. Many A-State fans would also believe that because that is what Razorback fans insist is true.

This poll, and Silver's estimate, are two actual data points that both agree that this is not true and that somewhere around 1 in 10 Arkansans identifies with A-State and that UA fandom may be a mile wide, but is about an inch deep.

If you can't understand why finally having some sort of actual data to counteract the BS party-line we endure, then I cannot help you understand because apparently you aren't capable of stepping into someone else's shoe's for a moment.

If frustration about your obtuseness comes off as being thin-skinned....well, I can't help you figure that out either.

You can question my intelligence all you want; I’m not the one that needs a poll to help ease my fragile psyche! Good night....

We probably underestimate UAF's influence in much the same way you discount LSU's. Both have legislative and media influence that is wildly dispropotionate to their value to their respective states, both in athletics and academics.

It's exacerbated a bit in Arkansas because it is smaller with less outside media influence, and it has only one other FBS school it has to suppress.

I'm not kidding when I say that many of their fans, and ours, are conditioned to expect our share of statewide fan identification to be 1% or so to their 99%. But data seems to say otherwise. The 19% that "did not know" is a bit of unexpected opportunity for ASU, UALR, and the other schools as well.

We like having this info from a neutral source, even if some on the outside don't see what the deal is.

Let me simplify this. This data is interesting to me because:

Razorback support: much lower than advertised here in Arkansas.

Red Wolf support: much higher than advertised here in Arkansas.

Nobody is upset just confused why the information above not understood.

Well I can safely say among the old line Sun Belt schools, AState has nothing resembling a monopoloy on thin skin.

There actually was a third poll down by UCA or Hendrix political polling.
