OT: Any Georgia Southern fans on this board pretty familiar with Savannah?
I'm planning a trip and have a few questions. I think of new questions all the time so I'd rather PM one or two people than keep bumping this thread to the top of the board. General comments are certainly welcome though. If anyone ever makes it to nc id be happy to answer questions as well.

Thanks! 04-cheers

I used to live there and managed Ga Southern as an account for Coke North America back in the early 2000's. I'd be happy to give you some info on Savannah...where to hang and not to hang.

I work in Savannah, basically right downtown on River Street, so feel free to PM or post here and I'll be glad to help anyway I can. One thing I'll mention without being prompted:
Go have a drink and an appetizer at Rocks on the Roof at the Bohemian hotel, it is pricey, but its literally on the roof of the hotel and has an outdoor deck where you can look out over the river and see across into a nature preserve on the South Carolina side, go at sunset, it is a great spot. There is a brand new hotel the Cotton Sail opening just West of the Bohemian, which is also advertising a rooftop bar, so that may be good to try as an alternative or an addition, but I can't vouch for their food and drinks yet.

River Street is a glittering, multi-faceted gem along the broad Savannah River. The century old buildings, once cotton warehouses, have been converted to antique shops, distinctive boutiques, spectacular galleries, quaint brew pubs, fabulous restaurants, unique nightspots, elegant inns and hotels. Bustling with welcoming hospitality, it’s also the place to see Savannah from the river that made her by taking a cruise or watching ships from around the globe sail into one of the busiest ports in America.

Easily my favorite city. Love River Street. Love the neighborhoods. Tybee is a gem. Its like Florida in the 1950's before they started dropping hotels and condos every 22 feet

When are you planning on coming down? It's going to be hotter than heck here shortly, so you may want to take that into consideration with your planning.

There are plenty of great places to eat and drink.
Paula Dean's is not one of them. 03-wink

I actually enjoyed the breakfast brunch buffet at her place. Of course I had to jog back to Atlanta

I've never actually eaten there (or had a reason to), so I do have a hard time saying anything about it... but everyone I know says its OK at best. None of the locals eat there. Ever. It's a tourist place. Literally a buses of people show up at a time.

If OP wants that type of food (southern/home cooked), Mrs. Wilkes' is the place to go.
