Its not indicated in the reporting what happens to the Sunbelt (or MAC or MWC) tie-in ... all that's reported is that CUSA picks up at least one, going from three to at least four, maybe as many as six, and the American drops at least one.

The way it was written, what it means for the other three participating conference could well not be worked out yet.

The extra slot in the Bahamas Bowl was simply the result of a trade with the AAC for a Miami Bowl slot. They might do it again, or maybe they swap a western bowl slot (Hawaii? NM?) with the SB or AAC to pick up another slot In the Bahamas.

RE: Change with the Bahamas Bowl
If the conferences involved, C-USA vs MAC this year, are not prepared well prior to bowl time then their leadership should be canned. How hard can it be for them to be ready with this much notice?

The number of fans that travel to this bowl and/or the Hawaii bowl is inconsequential. This will be a 4 hour travelogue for the Bahamas aimed at Americans during bowl season just as the Hawaii bowl is one long advertisement for traveling to the islands. It's also tv inventory for espn, the same as multiple smaller bowls like this one. Good attendance would be gravy and is likely not expected, at least from the 2 fanbases involved.

CUSA bought it so yes. As someone has already said, it will be a better located Hawaii Bowl. It will be able to be played in the afternoon of the EST time zone. Will be closer travel for the teams as well. And will be an exotic locale game in a smaller stadium than the Hawaii Bowl.

I went to the Aloha Bowl when I was stationed on Oahu, Fresno St. v Colorado, very low attendance. The best part was half time with Charo, cha cha cha

Ah Charo. Made for some racy tv back in the day. Never knew what she was famous other than being hot.

Lol. Yup. I think she was married to someone kinda famous (Xaviar Cugat, was a moderately famous band leader before my time I guess). I just remember she was hot and butchered the English language for Johnny Carson.

It could easily be reserved by the bowl, then sold out to the teams invited.

Yeah - and if one of the cruise companies were the sponsor of the bowl - like I mentioned above - it would make it much easier.
