I guess they think we've improved a bit off the bottom of FBS! Seriously though, I'm optimistic we see significant improvement. Apparently Bench had a good spring, Matt will be a year older and bigger, and seems the general conditioning is getting much better. Plus a great recruiting class. I hope to hell we get to 6 and set the stage for '15-17.

RE: College Football Countdown Thread:
SB Nation projections:
Central Florida 24
Houston 41
Cincinnati 54
Tulsa 64
East Carolina 72
SMU 74
South Florida 77
Connecticut 86
Temple 87
Memphis 95

I guess that's pretty fair. I would expect the top of the conference to have at least 2 teams in the top 40. maybe 3 in the 40-70, and the rest fall in wherever. IMO the top 4 this year will probably be able to compete with the top 40 (maybe more like 50) teams but won't get the credit they deserve.

Keep in mind if we expanded the coaches poll at the end of the season we'd see 1 G5 in the top 25 (UCF) but 9 G5 teams in that 26-41 range. I highly doubt we see anything like that in the pre-season polls. That's a given..it's a lot easier to throw a bunch of P5 teams at the top and when some fall off the pollsters can still say "well we were half right." It's a lot more difficult to predict which G5 teams will emerge as top 40 threats and which bottom bcs teams will rise.

edit: It looks like SB nation is just releasing their teams by conference instead of rank...

I agree but we don't get the benefit of the doubt like some conferences who get propped up in preseason polls and projections. It's an agenda to prop some up and keep others down to fit a preconceived notion and agenda. Haven't you figured this out yet.

RE: College Football Countdown Thread:
Tulsa is an enigma at this point. They should have shored up some of their weak points from last year (young OL has more experience and depth, should have a couple of good, young QBs, young D has more experience and all conference safety comes back from academic redshirt year, etc.) but they lost their starting backfield with two really good tailbacks. I don't think anyone really knows what kind of team they will be this year.

They could finish in the top 4 if the replacement backs are decent and if the young QBs turn out to be solid. Or if those things go the other way they could be fighting for that 9th spot.

Dude, I barely think UCF will start as a top 30 team, let alone ECU. I see no reason to think that ECU.will break the top 25 with their dramatic losses on D and significantly harder SOS this year. 72 is way too low imo, but top 30? When was the last time that even happened?

If i'm not mistaken you lose 11 players from your two deep (according to this website), granted it's from the beginning of the year and i'm sure some roster changes have been made. Losing 11 seniors on D alone is nothing to write off though.

I checked every official ranking poll available on espn. ECU received votes, but was nowhere near top 30.

Our recruiting classes have been ranked higher every year so I expect some players to take over. It was evident at the end of the year our best linebackers were on the pine.

We upgraded in almost every single position. Only big loss is at safety.

Don't know where that info comes from but ECU will be stoked this year. Clone will be deep and loaded..7 guys there they all been in the program a while that are all 300 plus and can interchange at nt or end..the best group of lab mere we have ever had...statrting dbacks are as fast and physical as we've had the two deep on the backend are inexperienced but have plenty of talent..Offense will be off the chain. I'm looking for a year like our 91 team
