Now you got it, a travel partner for Idaho, each corner of the smile.

The Sun Belt has to raise their requirements for members to the level of CUSA, the AAC and the MWC or else it will always be a bottom feeder welcoming FCS schools then waving bye-bye on the other end after they are brought up to speed.

The SBC developed into a nice, geographically-balanced conference over a period of many years, only to have it fall apart in the early stages of progress.

It is a school president-run conference and there is something they collectively will not do in terms of commitment that keeps us in this recycling mode. Continuing with business as usual is hopeless.

Too much money and negative PR to not include hoops.
And for the P5 athletic budgets, BBall scholarship are too small an incremental cost over FB scholarships to leave them out.

For the Go5 conferences, if we can get an advantage in BBall over a large number of FCS and non-FB conferences that have one or a few BBall powers but a lot of members that would rather not pay cost of attendance scholarships, we could well be better off with the rule being all-in for all scholarship limits rather than sport by sport.

For men's subsidy sports with dollar-count instead of head-count, an AD can keep giving the same scholarship dollars, its just officially a (say) "2/5" instead of "1/2" scholarship. And for women's sports, it makes it easier to get the Title IX offset the Men's FB and BBall scholarship money if the benchmark full scholarship level is the same as in Men's FB and BBall.

EKU will not talk to the Sun Belt next year IF a spot is open.

Your post is very misleading, based on what the real situation is according to the article.

And reading between the lines, it seemed the discussion was along the lines of finding out what would be required for EKU to position themselves to move up.

It makes total sense. Funding isn't there to do all the facility upgrades needed, so it will take a few years.

How I read this is simply that "we won't be ready by next year, either".

I would say it makes it clear EKU has to improve in a few areas before a move to FBS is even feasible. Reading between the lines they must not be too far away from making the grade.

I agree with your AAC or MWC comparison. Not CUSA. I like App St and South Georgia much better than ODU and Charlotte.

You guys aren't members yet. When you are I will get your name right. Maybe. Besides I was complimenting you or whoever South Georgia is.

Sounds like we received input on what we need to do and are going to implement a plan to do so. If we do things right, there is still the possibility to move up in a couple of years, depending on what the conferences are doing. It also means we need to improve our out of conference home game schedule. Playing Coastal at home drew well. Not so much Robert Morris and Morehead.

Believe it will eventually.
