I thought he was being talked about as a primary candidate at Mizzou? You all are in a comparable boat as Marshall - nobody with an offer from a school like Missouri is coming to our programs.

That's who the majority of the fan base would like to see.
However, AD's unfortunately often have a mind of their own.

RE: SFA's Underwood looks like USM's top choice
There's not a school in CUSA that can compete with P-5 money for coaches. The most successful among us will always deal with turnover in the coaching ranks. If you want to keep your coach around for 10-15 years, be ready to settle for mediocrity, because thats the only way to ensure that nobody will ever want him or her. Where AD's fail so miserably is that they always seem to be caught by surprise when a coach, even one that has said that he's not pursuing other opportunities, leaves when the first opportunity for P-5 money arises.

I'm not sold on Underwood. I guess he's no worse than hiring an assistant coach, but he doesn't have much head coaching experience to judge him on.

By Andy Katz:
"Marshall University offered its head coaching job to Stephen F. Austin's Brad Underwood, but Underwood is weighing his options as to whether to stay with the Lumberjacks or possibly wait to see if Marshall's Conference USA rival Southern Miss makes an offer, as well, a source with direct knowledge told ESPN.com."
