The defendant is 17 years old (18 in May) and hasn't yet played for Tulane but is enrolled as a freshman. He played high school football at West Jefferson in suburban New Orleans. He has been suspended from the Tulane football team. According to some local media reports, the alleged victim is the relative of a New Orleans Police Officer. The possible involvement of the NOPD is a huge red flag.

Tulane enrolled a kid UH signed in 2013 but released because he was charged with statutory rape.

Seems like Tulane is getting serious about winning football games.

Let the authorities do their job. If evidence comes out saying he did it then get rid of him.

He's very lucky. He was 19. She was 14. And it is undisputed they had a lot of sex. Whether he was convicted or not, he was guilty of stat rape. Which is why Houston cut him loose.

Having lived in New Orleans for 27 years, I don't have a whole lot of faith in NOPD doing its job--one way or the other.

One thing that you can be sure of when an athlete is accused of rape:

A lot of people who weren't there will say with absolute certainty what did or didn't happen. On both sides.
