Just a side note but Mike Williams was a Mick recruit.

Why? Because we are UC?

Conference affiliation for starters.

But yeah, you can't really expect Cincinnati to win recruiting battles head-to-head against Kentucky and Duke on a regular basis. They're traditional powers, have tons of money flowing into their program, top tier coaches, etc.

All any fan can really ask for is a team with the potential to compete for a deep run (not even necessarily a NT). To date, Mick has yet to assemble a single team that has had the personal to do something like that. There are alot of things we can point to, but I think it all starts and ends with having talent. Also, we all get it that we can't compete with UK and Duke on the recruiting trail. But we still should be able to get top 15-25 classes on a consistent basis, with maybe a top 10 class here and there. We should not be averaging a 54 ranking over a 7 year period.

The point is, just as one cannot reliably build a contender with a top level recruiting class, so too, you can't rule out a school like Butler with what was lower level talent before their first of two championship appearances. So what does that say about recruiting ratings? There is no such thing as a contender class. The dynamics represented by a particular team's skill sets, as well as coaching, are always going to be more important than how good each individual player is based on their position. Individual ability by the way, is where recruiting ratings come from. I'm sorry, but the idea that recruiting ratings matter in an absolute sense has no merit.

As an aside, there is no such thing as potential. You're as good as your results, and anything that comes after that is just self-aggrandizing garbage. The kind spewed by biased losers, who think that whatever creative fiction they want to spin around their favorite, or least favorite team in their lonely minds counts. Ball don't lie.

Kentucky lost to a team that had team great NBA prospects of their own, after making the Final Four. Just because you have the most talent doesn't mean you are going to win the national championship. The NCAA Tournament is incredibly unique for that reason. A bad shooting night, foul trouble, a team getting red hot at the right time (see: Villanova), etc.

Only one team can win on a given year. Doesn't mean that you can't compete for national title on a regular basis. Recruiting matters and so do trends in team rankings. Generally speaking, the lesser the class ranking is going to mean the potential is lower when the coaching staff starts to mold them as individuals and as a team.

Everyone needs to quit lowering the expectations for football and basketball.

Disagree about football. There are no nonP5 contenders

We have a world class design school, and that's the best template they can create for recruit visits?

I realize this sheet of paper ain't closing the deal, but I did better work than that in high school. And my degree's in Political Science.

Stansbury's dad shared it on his Twitter account and tagged GoBearcats. Figured they were the athletic department numbers. Tried editing my post now that I see they don't match the website.

Nah, more of a good for 5 years and then washed up and is no longer beneficial.
