ESPN Joe Lunardi on the performance of the AAC, BIG EAST In the NCAA...
Interesting take from Joe Lunardi...underachievers are Big XII & ACC...SMU got screwed and the BIG EAST has issues:
• The SEC deserved only the three NCAA bids it received (Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida). Any more bids and the exceptional seed score the conference achieved would have fallen significantly.
• The AAC got the short end of the stick on Selection Sunday in terms of both bids and seeding. Also, nonconference strength of schedule notwithstanding, SMU was still one of the 32 best available at-large teams. Nothing from the postseason convinced me the Mustangs shouldn't have gone ahead of at least Xavier, BYU and even NC State.
• The new Big East should take a long, hard look at itself after failing to advance either of its marquee teams to the second weekend. The bottom line is that the drop-off from losing NCAA powers Louisville, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Connecticut and Pitt to other conferences was even worse than originally thought. When the number of former league members in the tournament exceeds that of those left behind, you've got a problem.

Spot on!
The relevance of the NBE is tied to titles won in the mid 80s. They are to MBB what CUSA is to WBB (w/ ODU and Louisiana Tech).

I don't want to gloat, b/c wishing ill on others is (on karma terms) a great way to ensure your own failure.
But early returns are a little above expectations for the AAC and a little below expectations for the nBE.
I don't mind if they succeed, just not at the AAC's expense.
Next year will be interesting with Memphis/Cincy losing seniors and Lousiville leaving. A strong year from UConn, SMU fulfilling their promise, Temple rebounding to historical high norms, and one of the new guys (Tulsa?) providing a shot in the arm would help. So would the bottom half improving heavily (Houston?).
Cincy / Memphis will likely be down nationally with graduation losses. I would bet heavily on both in 2015-2016 however, so if the aforementioned teams can make noise in 2014-2015, the league will continue to be regarded as a rising monster for the near term.

The BE is a relic of parachute pants and Patrick Ewing. Glad they are being called out in this article. Once it becomes clear in basketball rcruiting circles that the BE is built on memories and old rubrics cube methology, the game is up. Not much sympathy towards anything with the name BE from most ECU fans.

The Big East had a great recruiting haul in the November period. Much better than the American's recruiting. Don't count them out yet.
But if the Fox ratings continue to be an issue, their recruiting will suffer.

This...and maybe just maybe way Buzz Williams bolted a better job at Marquette for Lower ACC Basketball Tier school Virginia Tech...3 years ago that would not have happened.....

Better job? Where I work a better job is when you get a raise in pay, not when you take a major cut. What I heard was that Buzz got pushed out at Marquette. VA Tech is where coaches go to die. It's a terrible job.

So, Butler didn't go to back-to-back championship games? Villanova, Georgetown, and Marquette didn't all go to Final Fours in the past dozen years?

Because their nbe board is garbage and they are feeling the heat from all the bad decisions they made through their arrogant point of veiw of schools that are now laughing in their f*cking faces.

Bulter is already rotten and forgotten. Quickest rise and fall that I can remember. Fox sports 1 was the final nail. The rest of the nBE gets zero marketing from March to November to make this worse. The nBE is turning into a train wreck.
