Saw at verbalcomits.com that Mr. Reyes is planning on visiting Wichita St. and Toledo. Interest.

Have Angel & Inma put the full court press on Sammis, if and when he visits...

To be sure that is in the plan. I would have to believe there are other recruits that they are after as well.

RE: Sammis Reyes
Great that he is visiting. that means we are high on his list. kid is a major recruit that just got pegged as a mid major guy for whatever reasons. "dunk city" fgcu, "the beach" long beach st, whicita st, toledo... he is checking out the hot mid majors and taking his time to choose.

the flip side is that to sign him, someone would prob not have a scholarship renewed or come as a recruit. this happens here and there. all teams continue to recruit even if they might not have the open scholarship. occasionally a team has a chance to sign a big recruit and the scholarship isn't really there-no one is eager to transfer and all the frosh qualify and get their transcripts etc in order. interesting dynamic right now. reyes could be the guy who takes this team from bubble to tourney. kid is physically ready and has game. put him with jd and dre applewhite and we have a mean forward trio. with boothe at center and all the good guards that's a team.

Of course the other alternative is that he has found a well paying job in Toledo and chooses to walk-on. 05-stirthepot

There always seems to be eligibility questions for the foreign recruits. I hope his birth certificate, transcripts and amateur playing history are all in order.

I see that he looks to be finishing his visits with Toledo. If he does them in that order (Wichita State next then Toledo) then I think our chances are better. Always good to be the last impression when talking recruiting. Also, in looking at the three schools he's visiting here at the end, Long Beach State lists that they already have 4 commits and 0 open scholarships. Wichita State has 4 commits and -1 open scholarships. Toledo has 3 commits and 0 open scholarships. I guess that means we have one more open scholarship than Wichita State. 03-lmfao

I wonder if he can throw the discus or play tennis or baseball.

Also important to note is that Wichita State actually isn't listed as a school that has offered him a scholarship yet either but Toledo and LBSU has.

RE: Sammis Reyes
Reyes played in the Adidas Gauntlet tournament in Dallas this weekend. It looks like he can rebound but he may need to work on his shooting and ballhandling

RE: Sammis Reyes
Looking at the stats there wasn't a lot team play going on in this game. Shooting pct. was awful for both teams. Run n gun out of control play.

RE: Sammis Reyes
that's why they don't usually post hs full box scores. nasty stats across the board. sammis was the most productive guy on his team. scoring, rebounding, giving the ball back to the other team.

coach k uses the 2 man position as a pf type rebounder and let's them range on offense and find their spots. matt smith is gone. jd plays that role pretty well now but reyes looks like a good fit for our "combo" forward position in the future

RE: Sammis Reyes
Sammis would be a nice addition to the team. He is really athletic, finishes well in the paint, and won't be getting pushed around in the paint. He is a wide body and that equates to a couple of inches of height in my book. He doesn't seem to have any hand-eye coordination challenges I can see. For his build, he can really play above the rim. Turnovers are a decision problem, and coach K could fix that.

Find a way to sign this guy!

I believe his trip to Hawaii is off this weekend due to poor weather in Fla. Rescheduling for next weekend.

Considering I'm 5 minutes from his school, the weather is beautiful. No rain is expected until midweek.

If Sammy doesn't sign by May 21 he has to wait till after August 1, 2014 to sign.

RE: Sammis Reyes
Since we have a full roster, I'm not sure where this is going. Since he's from South America, you'd think Sammis would go to a Southern school. Anyone else think it's strange that he's dragging this out so long?

RE: Sammis Reyes
i think he's at a point where he has a little leverage with most of the recruits off the board and only a few in demand eligible players still available. of course, most teams have filled their rosters, but those who have not are willing to hold open a spot for a legit recruit and even those, like UT, who appear to have filled all their spots might still recruit him because they haven't renewed scholarships yet and if he wants to go there, they could still transfer out a marginal guy on the roster.

regardless, he probably signs by the 21st unless he ends up going prep school for another yr.
