Will The Thrill Barton
MVP - Will Barton. With starters mostly resting, the offensive-minded forward got a longer leash than usual. He finished with a team-high 23 points (on 20 shots) to go with 10 rebounds.

I bet this helps his cause to have that final year guaranteed this summer by Portland - scroll down to see game recap

I watched the game...he was running point. Would've had more assists if he'd been with the A Team...lol.

Will looks good...happy too.

Yep about average...Most teams average 80ish in shots per game.

Which is why I do not want a quicker shot clock in NCAA BB

If he was 11-20 from the field and 1-1 from the ft line, that's damned good

If he was 5-20 and 13-25 from the line, that's different.

it''ll be interesting to see how much run he gets in the playoffs - Portland vs. Houston shapes up to be the most competitive series on paper - role players who perform well in limited minutes can change the outlook of a series

He looked pretty good, was the primary ball handler most of the game. Was 4-9 in the first half, and 3-11 the rest of the way. He played with confidence the whole game, just missed too many jumpers in the second half that he would normally make. His coach never said a thing to him though, so it was obvious he was asked to score. Had one really nice up and under in transition against two defenders. Was really good when attacking the rim.

yea...he looked good...and the coach just smiled at him at one point. Blazers went into a scoring drought. Then they all tried to jack up shots there for a while, but Portland finally won the game by 6....Will hit a three towards the end. He had 10 rebounds...lol

Guy was just an amazing rebounder for a skinny 2 guard. Crazy.

He's just freakin fearless and can maneuver around da big guys. His teammates really like him...they'll lob him the ball for dunks often enough.

You're right, almost forgot to mention his 10 rebounds. If he was ever able to put on 20 pounds of muscle he would be a starter. He should be eating 3 chickens and 5 protein shakes a day.

RE: Will The Thrill Barton
this doesn't surprise me - afterall he was a top 10 recruit in a very strong class when he came to Memphis

the talent is there - not every guy can come into the NBA and play like Irving or Lillard from the get go

it's taken Conley six plus years to be a top PG - he had to develop his built in talent as well

They love their Blazers in Portland. He's in a great BB town and by all counts wants to stick there.

That wouldn't help. Once his metabolism slows down he will put on weight. Remember how skinny Keith Lee was? Once he put on the weight he was done; killed his knees. Basically the same thing happened with Penny. Danny Manning is another one.

Well, by the time his metabolism slows down (mid-thirties most likely with a healthy NBA players), his window to add muscle starts to close as well.

He just doesn't have the frame that is going to add a lot of muscle, and adding weight may negatively affect his game after a certain point. Barton may just have to be the type of guy that rocks along as a skinny dude all his life.

Happy for Will. I always enjoyed watching him when he was with the Tigers. Loved his energy and enthusiasm. Always brought a high level of confidence to his game. Good luck to the young man.
