And a back-up spot in the Independence Bowl I believe.

Depending on how the Miami Beach Bowl shapes up I might try to go. Should be a nice bump to the sports world here in Miami in addition to the good ole Orange Bowl.

Boca Burger needs to be the sponsor of the Boca Raton Bowl. There I said it.

This was made by an MT fan. I believe it is accurate.

The Miami and Bahama Bowls have been switched for '14 and '15.

C-USA will be in the Bahamas this year and Miami next year.

I thought CUSA had 5 gauranteed slots per year starting next year? Or is it 6?

I haven't seen that anywhere. Post a link if you have one. I really want to get this all correct. Just noticed I missed New Mexico Bowl so I will add that one above.

This is what I was told by our folks. Could be misinformed. I'll see if I can find something.

RE: 2014 C-USA Bowl Lineup...
Found this from the DNJ Beat Writer. The way this is written sounds like we lost the Miami Bowl for '14 as part of the rotation instead of getting it both years and Bahamas next year. "Replace" implies one will be this year (Bahamas) and the other next year (Miami) instead of both Miami and Bahamas in '15 as the chart above suggests. If this is accurate does this mean we'll only have four guaranteed in '15 or maybe Boca moves up a year to '15?? I'm not clear on that part. Just heard we were in Bahamas this year instead of next year. I like rotating bowls, but it makes it tougher to keep track.

Bowl tweak

The Conference USA 2014 bowl lineup has been adjusted slightly to replace the Miami Beach Bowl with the Bahamas Bowl.

The 2014 C-USA primary bowl tie-ins include Bahamas Bowl, Boca Raton Bowl, New Mexico Bowl, Heart of Dallas Bowl and Hawaii Bowl, as well as a secondary agreement with the Independence Bowl.

Last October, C-USA announced its revamped bowl contracts because of the introduction of the four-team College Football Playoff this season. The lineup will change each year, but C-USA has affiliations with 10 different bowls (eight primary, two secondary) to guarantee at least five slots each year from 2014-19.

C-USA’s guaranteed bids in future seasons will also come in the Miami Beach Bowl, Beef ‘O’ Brady’s St. Petersburg Bowl and New Orleans Bowl, along with a secondary spot in AdvoCare V100 Bowl.

RE: 2014 C-USA Bowl Lineup...
This is the lineup I saved from last update. 5 per year with possibly 6 if Indy needs a backup. Have not confirmed this one but C-USA also may be a secondary backup for the Armed Forces if Army/Big 12 not available.

2014 HOD, NM, Miami, Boca, Haw
2015 HOD, NM, Miami, Bahamas, Beef
2016 HOD, NM, Boca, Haw, NO
2017 HOD, NM, Boca, Beef, NO
2018 HOD, NM, Boca, Bahamas, Haw
2019 HOD, NM, Bahamas, Beef, NO

Good find! My only concern is that the official Bahamas Bowl website still has the other 2 conference listed as matching up for 2014. Curious how this ends.

Why did the HOD game not have a Big 12 team last year?

So no Miami this year, add Bahamas. I think they'll be more switching ones bowl season gets here. ESPN will want to get interesting match ups and keep teams close to home if possible.

Not enough qualified teams, I guess. I can see that happening sometimes if HOD gets last pick.

Don't think that is the case. I know you are joking around, but UNT sent a very good crowd to the bowl game. I think Conf USA has a nice bowl lineup. BB did a good job IMO.

So the MWC must share the HOD with the other two conferences, correct?

Does the HoD bowl alternate between the B12 and B1G, or can it pick from either conference? Where does it fall in the pecking order for those conferences?

How does your backup agreement with the Independence work? The AAC is also a backup for that bowl, so I'm not sure how we're splitting backup duties.

Either conference may be selected for the Independence bowl. Neither the AAC or CUSA, apparently, have priority over the other. In other words, if the Independence has an opening and 1 AAC team and 1 CUSA team is available, the bowl may select either team and the other is out of luck. Indy bowl will probably select the closest program if things like records and fan bases are roughly equal.

Big Ten will rotate Heart of Dallas and Armed Forces. They will be HOD in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Which is why AAC getting the Cure Bowl isn't a bad thing for C-USA. It makes it less likely the American will have extra teams.

Yeah, we scared them away.

Actually, it was supposed to be a B10 team but they didn't have enough teams. UNLV should have gone to the Ft. Worth bowl but there was a swap which moved UNLV to Dallas and gave the MWC another bowl team. It's an example of CUSA and MWC working together.
